Poetry From Africa

Post by ZorodzaiP »

My Soul
My soul runs deep down
It runs deeper than you know, deeper than you see
My soul runs deep into the scorching earth
Into the deep black soils of Africa

My soul reaches out to the towering mountains
Silhouetted against the deep red horizons
Going down with the sinking sun
Going down with the war cry
Rising each day with renewed hope and victory

My soul entwines with the swirling winds of the dry plains
And tumbles into the gorges with the roaring waterfalls
My souls sways to the sound of the pacifying drum beat
And the echoes of the roaring lions
Singing along to the tunes of the moaning birds

My soul flies high with the soaring eagles
High into the endless blue skies
My soul searches for rest among the deep valleys
And the stretching green plains
My soul lands yearning for, seeking rest
On the land that that holds my soul
Africa, you are greatly loved.

Africa, Africa
rise up Africa
Africa, Africa
stand up Africa
when will you learn Africa
your sons and daughters are calling
they are crying
for they are starving
when will you change
oh Africa
you hate wisdom
so do not have freedom
and mystery consuming your kingdom
to be brave means disrespect
you have lost a great prospect
Africa, Africa
rise up Africa
Africa, Africa
wake up Africa
