My Favorite Lyric
If this is to end in fire, then we should all burn together

Album

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

My Comments

I am not a huge fan of Lord of the Rings. I don't dislike it; I just never got that into it. I'm sure I would have a much bigger appreciation for the series if I actually read the book, but alas I only watched the movies . However, I love this song. It follows the story, particularly in that film, but it also this double meaning and can easily--perhaps more easily--be appreciated without regard to the movie. In that way it reminds me of the song "Iris" from the City of Angels Soundtrack.

I found this song on Spotify and instantly loved it. I don't know if its the normalness where it doesn't hold any weird noises, the tune, the pace of just Ed Sheeran but the song appealed to me and lord of the rings wise they're OK but probably the one book I won't ever get through would be the hobbit

I kind of became obsessed with the movies and the books. Whilst listening to the soundtrack, this song just jumped out at me. It's quite different from the rest of the soundtrack but still fits in a weird way.

When I listened to the lyrics, it hit me why. I just loved the parallel :)

I've loved this song since I first heard it. I have a thing for this "feel" of music. Others may not even associate certain songs as being alike, but to me they're all of the same "flavor": this, a lot of Nick Drake, some Mumford and Sons, etc...
They're my go to for relaxing music. If I'm feeling run down or sick this is the type I'll normally gravitate toward.

I was also planning on nominating this song eventually, so I'm totally on board!

I hope the nominations thread picks up soon! :D

Ed Sheeran is a great song writer. I have watched his acoustic video to this song (I see fire). His skill on the acoustic guitar is wonderful.

I watched the series but didn't notice the song, probably because I didn't even know about Ed Sheeran at that time. I eventually discovered Ed, and I'm a big fan now. I love this song! I listen to it a lot. I could almost relate though I didn't know about its connection to The Lord of the Rings. I'll probably re-watch Desolation of Smaug now.

Not a fan of LOTR? Don't break my heart, Scott. Read the books if you have to, you'll love them, I promise.

You have good taste in music, I have to say. I like this song a lot, it's so folksy and Ed Sheeran's voice is magical.

I love the feel of this song, it's really stripped down, not noisy and over-produced, so we get to appreciate Sheeran's voice. It also suits the movie well.

I have never seen any of the Lord of the Ring movies so I didn’t know this song was on one of them until today! But this song holds a special place in my heart. My significant other is a Wildland firefighter and he once said that if he does while on a fire that I should play this song. I thought nothing of it until I actually heard the lyrics and the part where it says “if this is to end in fire then we should all burn together” burned to my soul! It has nothing to do with him or firefighting but those words are pretty intense no matter how you decide to interpret them.
