Thanks for reading Drone Child, Odek! I’ll welcome your further thoughts on either the book or the Club’s excellent questions. Lemba and I both love technology for social good and hate sociopaths and dictators. We both grew up in loving families. In real life, my sister and I are very close friends, just like Lamba and Josiane. But, yes, in many other ways Lemba and I couldn’t be more different, so I ran the novel past two wonderful Congolese to make sure I was on target. One role model of mine, as a creator, was Stephen Crane, who wrote The Red Badge of Courage, a classic Civil War novel, even though the war ended six years before he was born. Here’s to research!

The author interviews are my favorite!

I appreciate the comments the author made about race. Being an outsider and writing from that perspective must be a challenge. Having others take it seriously and connect with the text is a whole other mountain to climb.

Seriously speaking... Author's interviews are always the best for me.
Difference in races closing up is something I look forward to; nice to also hear the author comment on it.

I enjoyed the author's quote of the former war writer that sealed his fate , "He said writers aren't smart enough to be doctors or good-looking enough to be actors. So I settled for something a little less scary".
The interview for me was quite humorous and well-detailed.
