1. What do you do when you aren't writing?

I'm an intrepid adventurer at heart, always seeking the next conquest. But when distance hampers my efforts, I settle for yoga, solving problems with friends, and lots of walking.

2. Do you have any odd writing habits?

I need to be all in—no noise, no distractions. What I think will take an hour usually takes a month. And when I'm in the zone, I don't come up for air, except for the fact I need to do Burpee's every hour

3. Let's discuss your book Never Let a Good Disaster Go to Waste. Can you give us a synopsis for those that don't know?

After my husband left me on my 40th birthday, hours after radical surgery, I overcame his betrayal in just 12 hours. This kicks off my story which is filled with serendipitous encounters and life-changing lessons from a Maori Buddhist teacher, a yoga guru, and a Zen motorbike-riding renegade. It sounds heavy, but it's often very funny and a wild roller coaster of a ride.

4. Why did you decide to write about your life?

I know disaster intimately and never let them go to waste. I felt passionate about sharing my experiences so I can help others shortcut their suffering. When one suffers it is cast out into the world. My dream is to gather everyone for a ride on the bus of contentment.

5. You've been through a lot of difficult things. Was it difficult to relive them while writing the book?

My book is about overcoming suffering. We can choose to suffer for 12 hours, 12 days, 12 years, or a lifetime. Reliving my past didn't bring pain, I'd be a failure if it did. However, I was able to view my life from an interesting new perspective.

6. How did you stay positive throughout all you experienced?

In my early life, I had an illustrious career as a door-to-door salesman. I learned that every "no" leads to a "yes." Tough times don't last, but tough people do. in my next life, I'm coming back as a writer of refrigerator magnet cliches.

7. What do you want others to learn from your life?

No matter how bad it seems, it could always be worse. We're always in a disaster or between two. Never letting a good disaster go to waste—means that each one makes you wiser and stronger.

8. What's next for you?

I'm thrilled to announce that Reese Witherspoon will be making a miniseries out of my memoir.

She just doesn't know it yet—if you could let her know, please.

9. What's your favorite TV show?

I'm a diehard Seinfeld fan.

10. What was your favorite subject in school?

Lunchtime and gym.

11. Would you rather be stranded on a remote island or be stuck inside your house in the middle of a city?

That's an easy one, I'd pick the remote island. This literally happened to me! I was stranded for 2.5 years in Vanuatu, during COVID. It is renowned to be the most natural disaster-prone country on earth! You could definitely say I was in my element.

The only mask I ever wore was for snorkeling. I highly recommend for the next pandemic, that you find a way to strand yourself in paradise.

Each of us goes through suffering.Just like the author said you can go through 12 years of suffering or even 12 hours.I recommend the book to those who are undergoing suffering but don't know how to overcome it
