Nice! This reminds me of some of Lori Wick's books. Maybe Janette Oke? Either way, it sounds like a great story, and you've got me interested to see what it is about Marcel that isn't quite consistent. Thanks for the review. I'll look at this one.

This seems like a very heavy read and not for everyone. I appreciate how the author portrayed Levi's abuse very realistically and her actions after she's freed from it. Might give it a shot in the future. You did an absolutely great job with this review!

You had me sold at "skillfully crafted well-developed characters with strong personalities"! For me, books with well-developed anything always go down well. :D Thanks for the great review!

Yes, I agree. The story is similar to both of those authors' styles. Thank you for your comment.

You brought up a good point. Fortunately, the abuse was described from Lilly's memories and though still a heavy subject, the descriptions were not graphic. Thanks, Morgan. I appreciate your comment.

This sounds like a good one for when I'm in the mood for a drama! I want to know if she finds the money and where that sneaky jerk put it. Poor Lilly, she really went through a lot.

I love that the characters are well developed. I also sympathize with Lilly for being in such an abusive relationship that continues to haunt her even after the death of her husband

I really enjoyed the fact that you talked about the themes in the book. The summary didn't appeal to me at first but I'm thinking of giving this book a try. Great review!

The character levi gets my goat! I also hope Lilly gets her rightful inheritance and finds happiness.

It must be a very traumatic experience for Lilly Perkins suffering in the hands of Levi. The story also seems to have a good plot. Especially because i love christian fiction. Nice review!

It's great that the author developed the characters well and that Lilly's struggles were relatable. That's so important to me in any book.
