I personally loved the sex scenes. They were well written and not obscene.

I definitely get what you mean. It's alright to be descriptive or make something a bit more than what it is but sometimes it just makes the whole ordeal awkward.

Those scenes generally turned me off. I usually skip them till I get to parts I can read.

I don’t think she needed to go as far with them as she did. What’s interesting to me is that I was hooked by the storyline from the beginning. Then came the “scenes”. I don’t even read them fully because it adds nothing to the story for me. Even the part where a character shapeshifts into a wolf and attempts to mate with another wolf...insert eye roll. It’s a shame because the plot is good.
Everything happens for a reason...

Limited mention of adult content is harmless to add the charm of the book but again, it is an art as it must be upto certain mark, or else it loses its appeal.

I believe the level of adult content should be determined by the nature of book, if the intention of a book is not to arouse sexuality in any way, then I do not see the need for excessive adult content.

In book like this, simplicity is the best. If the erotic scenes has a purpose such as reaching a climax (not pun intended) towards a character's mindset or having longstanding consequences after the sex scenes would be perfectly fine. However, if its just adding some fluff in a really interwoven story would throw off its rhythm and makes readers cringe.

To quote Plato, “Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.”

The quote has covered much of what could be expressed in a thousand words. I think this is another view that is well supported. Perhaps the author's intention was to just go over the scenes and not really dwell much on them.

Awesome. I like this. This is a good opinion as well. It is easy to forget this sometimes but I think it is also true that we may not have to write things the same way it could be done elsewhere, such as in other books.

I they were totally awful and poorly written. It is possible for a love scene to be written tastefully, yet with enough detail to actually keep the reader engaged. I found myself drowning in tacky euphemisms.

Adult content can be good for the book, but I agree, it must be written well.

I found the book to be more sexually charged than necessary. There are sexual innuendos from the beginning scene where Mor and Belinus are "intoxicated with each other." I think the author wanted to intensify these scenes, and, thus, create a conflict for Catrin. Would she follow her emotions or her duty?

I guess some writes want to keep the book less graphic without avoiding the erotic scenes that add up to the romance. I have some friends that wouldn't read this book if they knew that it had graphic erotic scenes because they are shy or they think it's too much to read. I suppose that many writes want to avoid losing the audience just because of a scene. I don't mind reading more insensible scenes but I get why they avoid it sometimes.
