This. Anything leading up to and after the act is fine, but writing adult content well in a way that doesn't target that particular market with explicit words is extremely difficult.Kibetious wrote: ↑06 Sep 2018, 04:37Awesome. I like this. This is a good opinion as well. It is easy to forget this sometimes but I think it is also true that we may not have to write things the same way it could be done elsewhere, such as in other books.msomigreat wrote: ↑06 Sep 2018, 02:07 I believe the level of adult content should be determined by the nature of book, if the intention of a book is not to arouse sexuality in any way, then I do not see the need for excessive adult content.
I found that Dean Koontz, of all people, managed to pull it off in some of his books, simply by writing what happens and how the characters feel about it before and after, without using any special or dirty words. Calling a spade a spade seems to be a good way to do it. I got the definite impression that the author was embarrassed by her own content, but I'm probably reading too much into that

That's right. When the overall premise of the book is interesting, one need not linger on one scene.
