I am a believer of happy ending. I think they should be together in the end.

However, this book is not trying to be a historically accurate novel. I think the most likely outcome is either they all live happily ever after or one of them tragically dies at the end.

Another possibility is that they realize that their feelings were caused by Agrona's spell and grow apart. That would be a more unexpected outcome, but I don't think the author will go that way because nowadays everyone wants romance in their tales.

What I am more curious about is will this book go the alternate history route where they defeat the Romans. For Catrin that would be a really happy ending.
The part of knowing that their feelings were caused by the spell might definitely change things for the worse. Indeed, the ending will be more unexpected than for any other option although no one can easily foretell since the author will have limitless options for the ending.

In as much as the cultures are different, a happy ending would be good. I do not know if there is any other possible way for them to live happily other than coming together.

Well, the author can further expand her story as long as it doesn't become boring and that it still follows that of the first book.

I become really romantic and unrealistic when it comes to books and movies. I want the happy ending especially when the lead characters suffer through a lot. I know that some stories are beautiful and special because they have this "sad ending" or "tragic" but my heart won't buy it. I read books to go to a place when everything is possible, for a love like this to go against all odds and overcome the obstacles. Call me helplessly romantic but I can't help but love a happy ending.

I would like to see them have a happy ending, because I feel that Catrin's ability to manipulate the future could also allow her the chance to change their fates and be together.

I loved the book but I don't know if there can be a happily ever after with them. Catrin could not go to Rome where she would be treated less than a person. I don't know if Marcellus would leave his family to join Catrin in her homeland or not, the curse of his family would stop him from doing that I believe. So no, not a happily ever after.

The more realistic ending is that they aren´t meant to be together. But we don´t always read literature for realism and even if the book is well researched, I´m not sure the author´s purpose is 100% historical accuracy. I want a happy ending for them! And I think it would send a nice message about tolerance and openness to other cultures.

A happy ending would be nice but not true to the setting of the book. In an era where war was the first resort and bitter resentment existed, there is no way they would have been allowed to be together. The two are just too valuable as political leverage for their respective sides.

I don't mind whatever ending happens, as long as it makes sense for the story.

I want Catrin and Marcellus to have a way to be together since they seem to truly love one another. I like happy endings where everything works out for the best. A lot of things have to happen in order for that to come about.

I prefer a happy ending that allows them to live together because I don't want another tragic love story.

To me stories that have a happy ending are better than those that leave you wishing for a better outcome.
Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book.

I'm a sucker for happy endings, I'd like for them to end up together. I don't know why some people think happy endings are cheesy.
