I'm the same way Simworm.. I like living in a small town but not being too far from the city so that I can still get the experience of a city. I live just outside of Toronto and I just travel into the city for work everyday.. When I lived in the city I found myself getting more stressed out about things.

i like living in a big city as it makes me appreciated the small town quietness when i get out of the big smoke. Big cities are just too interesting to be out of for too long for me right now!

i'm most definitely a big-city guy...love the energy, diversity and story-rich environment...however small cities have their charm...i guess that on a yearly basis, i'd be 80/20

I'm definitely a big city person. I've lived in one my whole life so I can't see myself in a small town or even.....a Village  . Not that there is anything wrong with it but I guess just not for me. I like to visit nice rural areas around England, there are some pretty villages here and it's ok for a day out. I do remember visiting a small village outside of Toronto when I went to visit my sister and a woman just stopped us in the middle of the street and began chatting away like we were old friends, I didn't know what to make of it, I guess if that happened in the city I'd be surreptitiously edging away whilst checking I still had my purse  but she was really friendly and even though I gave monosyllabic answers (I mean she was a total stranger!) my sister was a pro at it.

The city for me has everything I need with little trouble and so much convenience but at the same time I could never live somewhere like London - even for me that is too congested and claustrophobic.

I like the small towns, Ive lived in them most of my life. The one I live in now has about 500 people, everyone knows everyone else. Its kind of dull and unexciting, but dull and unexciting suits me just fine.

Yeeeesssss! I live in a semi-small town (pop. around 30,000), just outside a small city (close to 300,000, I think). Makes for a nice compromise. My subdivision is about as safe and dull as you can get (and whitebread, which annoys me, but that's Wisconsin for ya), but I'm only five-ten minutes away from good food and better music.
How perfectly goddamned delightful it all is, to be sure.

Same here. The good food is only a few minutes away, in a bigger town. As for the music, its all the same. Every store, every car has Mexican music blaring out all over the place.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Big cities for holidays, small towns, or even small islands to live on. Access to beautiful beaches essential. :)

That's fortunate. It'd suck if you felt the need to relocate just 'cause of a music thing.
Yikes! I can't believe I just typed that! Well, it would suck, but I'd move. Music is essential. I always threaten (and probably will, eventually) to move to a "normal" climate, but everybody knows I'd probably end up right back here, 'cause I'd miss the "scene". Ugh, now I sound like a "hipster". Excuse me while I make fun of everything in my environment, then copy it, for "irony".

At one time I wished I was somewhere else because of the music. When I was a kid, my uncle stayed with us for a time, and he got up at four in the morning to go to work. He had a wind-up phonograph and he would play nothing but Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald records at four in the morning. That got real old after a while. My dad finally put a stop to it, told him he would wrap the phonograph around his neck and shove the records down his throat. To this day I cant stand Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald.

When I'm calling yoooooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...... So yeah, just imagine that blasting from every available speaker, constantly. Or...I like crap like dogs barking "Jingle Bells". Things can almost always be worse.

Oh yeah, Slim Whitman did it a lot better. I think the same dogs did Glenn Miller's In The Mood, too. Great stuff.
