Like many others have mentioned, the Percy Jackson movies. If the books are doing so well, I don't understand why directors and others feel the need to change the entire plot and purpose of the book when people love the original story and will of course come to see it on the big screen. When it's quicker to point out the very few things that remain true to the book than it is to discuss the differences, you've got a problem.

Other disappointing movies revolve around Stephen King's books. A lot of his movie adaptions just don't do his books any justice whatsoever.

Stephen King's The Gunslinger. I don't know why anyone would try to film a multibook masterpiece in the first
place in a single movie but the whole thing was almost unbearable to watch.

Ender's Game is over of my favorite books, and the movie was just terrible. This was made worse by the fact that Harrison Ford was in it, and he's one of my favorite actors.

I'm a little conflicted about A Clockwork Orange, because I love the book and I don't dislike the movie, but I felt like it was made a little inaccessible by Stanley Kubrick, like he usually does with his 2-3 hour sagas. I also didn't like the ending change.
