Thats hard to say. Some books become collectors items in a short time, some after years and years. I once bought a book in 1955 called Beggars Of Life from a discount bin in front of an used book store for 10 cents. I tried to find it a while back online, I found it at Amazon for 1600 dollars. Thats way out of my league.

I think book value has more to do with whether it's still in print or not. ? And condition, of course. I've found out that some of mine are pretty valuable (though not in the 1600 dollar range!), much to my chagrin. I don't feel comfortable reading them after that, 'cause I might damage or drop food on 'em...most of my books are rat-chewed, too.
How perfectly goddamned delightful it all is, to be sure.

any deal on a book is a good one. Book fairs i wish were more around where I live but their not. So, I mostly end up going to half price books to buy my books or will sometimes buy off barnes and noble.
When a good book captures me then, I know I've found happiness.

I have recently been turning to eBay for a lot of my books, have managed to pick up a few bargains and also some lesser known books for half the price of the local store. :D

You can't beat the library for FREE! Of course, if you like to keep the books you've read, then that is a different story. I'm not a book collector at all, so that doesn't matter to me. I also never re-read a book (too many I haven't read yet). If I do want a book right away though or it is not available in the library, then I will usually get it on Amazon on my Kindle or buy used on Amazon or Ebay whichever is cheaper. My church also has a library so I get a lot of Christian Fiction there.

the library is good for renting books , but they also have a bookstore in there, where books are $1, or 2 for $1, which is always good, then there's the 4 times a year , every 3 months....book sale, where you can fill up a whole bag and it's only $1/ bag... and u can take as many bags as u want lol, last time i was there, i got 10 bags... each bag held 22 books in it lol, and only paid $10.......... so i usually wait for the book sale.... so much fun, but for some i can't find, i try amazon, or online bookstores
