The Red Light by L. H. Roberts sounds interesting to those who love erotic books. It's not my type of read. I will recommend it. Nice review.

Thanks for the great review!! I felt the same way initially about the erotica genre but this book sounds like it is so much more!! I love sarcastic humor so that alone makes me really want to read this!

I'm not a fan of erotic romance, but at least this book has some humor in it. It's good to know that the author has a realistic portrayal of the women's friendship. Great review.

I usually hesitate with the erotica genre as well, however, your review persuaded me that this book has more to offer! I love that the two main characters are likable and relatable, which makes their story that much more interesting. Thanks for the wonderful review!

This review has sparked my interest in reading this book. My thoughts after reading this review is that it will be a great read. I love all genres but sometimes the new erotica books don't have a very good storyline, however this one looks promising. Thank you for the great review. I can't wait to read this book.

This is an interesting book about sex and friendship. I am ready for Eva's humor! I can't wait to add this book on my reading list.

EvaDar wrote: 09 May 2019, 17:39 I really enjoyed reading your review. You write well and your tone is engaging. This book sounds rich and full of excitement, armchair travel, romance and erotica. What a nice combination. And the friendship between the women sounds rich as well. A great review that definitely entices the reader. Thanks.
Thank you so much, Eva! :tiphat:

The reviews sounds great but erotica really is not my thing either. The story of Erica and Samantha in Amsterdam's Red Light district sounds more like physiological thriller as the reviewer stated than the erotica genre. I've never read erotica so maybe regular erotica lacks the depth? The review is good though.

Review is great. Female empowering reads are my favourites. I opened the review with a bit of hesitation. But by the time I reached the end, I so wanted to read this book. And Amsterdam! After reading 'The Fault in our Stars' by John Green, I wanted to know more about the city. Congrats on BOTD.

I am not much of a reader of erotica either, but this sounds like a more wholesome character-driven read. Thank you for the review!

I definitely agree that the characters are well-rounded and vibrant. I think the descriptions and imagery were my favorite part of the preview. I disagree, however, on the "top-notch" portrayal of feminine relationships. I myself am not really feminine, though do have a lot of female friends and I can't say that we've ever been so . . . sensually-focused, nor have we ever had it dominate our conversations and actions. I can't confidently say that the characters seemed realistic, either. I don't know of many tame, if slightly erotic, office workers or anyone, really, who would be excited about existing in a red light district. The part in the beginning where Sabrina was excited over the prospect of not knowing whether or not she would get and STD really broke immersion for me. Eva, though I adore her in the short time I had to read about her, seemed more like a dramatic internet personality than a real person. They both work in a fictional sense, but I really can't see many real-life people behaving like this. :eusa-think:

In any case, while I am not into reading erotic novels, I did find some parts endearing or humorous. I also find it important to once again note that I vastly enjoyed the detailed and creative imagery. I'm all about empowerment, as well, though . . . this may be an unconventional way to go about enjoying it. All in all, I liked your review and found the first five chapters of the book itself to be pretty good. Not going to lie, though, I was a little relieved that it ended before I got to any of the sex scenes. . . I had no clue what this book was about before I dove into the preview, and it was far from what I was expecting my first taste of book-reviewing to be like. Still kept me hooked, I guess.

Thanks for your review! The book sounds like a wonderful read. I appreciate that it focuses not just on the erotica aspects. Eva and Sabrina seem to be delightful and well-written characters. The scenes you included such as the one where Eva discussed getting dumped were very funny!

What a great review. I'm not very interested in erotic romance either, but I like the idea of a nice female-centered storyline with good humor throughout. A lot of the books I've been reading have been more serious. I will be adding this book to my to-read shelf!
