Ready to Run by Alexis Zacheries is supposed to be a romance novel; however, it reads like an erotic novel instead. The story is about Regina Voss and her journey in rediscovering herself. She is surrounded by people who care very little for her until she meets Luke Riley. They do not run in the same circle and are entirely different people. She is an heiress who has her life mapped out for her by her parents, and he is a nobody mechanic, raised by his older brother. After an unfortunate encounter with her on and off boyfriend, she flees the safety of her richness, and her life is turned upside down.

What I loved most about this book is how well written the intimate scenes were. They were clearly written by a professional. There was nothing childish, fake, or forced about the things that were witnessed in these moments. The novel was mostly sex, yet each encounter was different from the first. While I thought this was awesome, it caused the book to have very little story. I did love reading about her experiences with Luke because they felt so genuine, and a lot of their interaction was hilarious because of his inexperience. For example, him not knowing where to put his shaft. Nevertheless, the book felt lacking, and I realized that there wasn’t much story in between these intimate moments.

It was what I disliked most in this novel, and I wish there were more balance between sex and story, and not just a book filled with sex. The characters were shallow, and very little development happened where they were concerned. The females were bitchy and weak-minded; the ex-boyfriend was a jerk, and the parents were unkind and uncaring.

While that was an issue for me, it still can’t take away from the fact that it was an absolute page-turner, and I was glued to it the whole time. The non-sex storyline starts to pick up close to the end of the book, which drove me crazy because it ends in a cliff hanger. I hope we are able to see character development and more of a storyline in the second book.

While I loved reading this book for the Gina and Luke scenes, I can only rate it 3 out of 4 stars. It lacked the depth it needed to give it a 4 out of 4 rating. It is still a great book, and I would recommend it to lovers of erotica novels, or romance novel lovers who do not have delicate sensibilities. The book is absolutely not suitable for children, and it does have some triggering content. I did not find any typos or grammatical errors while reading, and I have to say it was well edited.

It seems that many erotic novels are lacking in the story department. Either way, it's not a genre I read. So I'll pass. Interesting review, though. Thanks.

The females being bitchy and the ex-boyfriend a jerk. Seems like a typical erotic novel to me. Great review though.
