Forged Through Glory by DeZré Storm is a romance novel that crosses into the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre. The story focuses on Yoland Sleek and her interactions with the other members of her new squad. She is an illegal creation and has to make many difficult choices for self-preservation. She is a mix of two races, one made to kill, and one made to give pleasure. Her secret has been discovered, and she is being blackmailed by higher powers that stand to benefit from her rare biology. In her quest to find her father, she sought employment in the Compound Operations Research Exploration (CORE) Unit of the United Human Alliance so she could reach her goal faster. Through no fault of their own, Sleek and her team find themselves with the losing hand.

I loved reading this book so much it was so hard for me to put it down. I loved the way we were teased into getting to know the characters, versus having everything just thrown at us. I loved how the author was able to make the main female character so strong yet so feminine at the same time. I appreciated that the men were not afraid to admit their weaknesses or flaws while still being undeniably masculine.

The book ended in a cliff hanger, but it wasn't an abrupt end. Instead, we were made aware that the novel would be coming to an end before the story came to a close. What I loved most in this book was the fact that the author added an additional section to the novel to give the reader a taste of what would happen next.

What I disliked the most was that months or years could pass with just a flip of a page. I know it had to be done for the story, but I didn't care for it. I found myself rereading a few paragraphs occasionally, to make sure I wasn't the one who missed something.

There weren't many errors seen in this novel, and I have to say I think it was well edited. When it just got started, it took a few pages for me to get my bearings and readjust to the world I was being transported to. However, I don't hold it against this story. Although I hated the time jumps, it's not enough for me to give it a less than 4 out of 4 star rating. This book is not appropriate for children or people with delicate sensibilities. This book is a total tease from the start. But I loved that this book had a balance between the sex and storyline. I recommend this book to lovers of Sci-fi/Fantasy and romance novels. It is a perfect weekend read.

I do wish the timeline on this one was steadier, but the premise sounds captivating. I love science fiction, but the graphic content will probably keep me from reading this one. I only enjoy a tiny bit of romance with my sci fi (what can I say? I'm a purist!).
