I like the mix of historical fiction and romance within this novella. I’m I interested in learning more about the Cultural Revolution in China and think this sounds like a nice little book!

Although I am not interested in reading it, it still sounds interesting due to the situation the main character is in.

I would be interested in giving this book a try, even though romance novels aren’t usually my bread and butter. Thanks so much for this insightful review!

Thanks for your thoughtful review. I liked your example of the elegant prose but also agree with your point about too many exclamation points. I am curious to learn more about the cultural revolution and so, I might give this book a try.

Learning about the Cultural Revolution in China through romance is a book I want to read. I know very little about China or its history. There are two things I'm aware of: the Great Wall and the discovery of the life size army figures. Thanks for the great review!

A story that "centers around the romantic relationship between Chun Ming and Fan Si Jun during the last months of the Cultural Revolution" sounds a great read for fans of romance and historical fiction novels. I am glad you enjoyed the poetic writing style, but I am not the target audience. I got my copy, though. Thank you for the charming review!

Sounds a good book, although I agree that it becomes an irritation when an author over uses exclamation marks and ellipses. Great review!

The Sound of Spring by G.X. Chen is written in the first person of Chun Ming. The writing has a resonance and is easy to read. The setting is China before and during the cultural revolution. I liked the sample. Thanks for the review which I also enjoyed.

I'm not sure about the romance element but the historical setting seems fascinanting and the book is short so I'll give it a try.

I always wanted to know about this part of history at the end of the communist revolution and how things changed for people. It also sounds like a beautifully written book. Count me in!

The sample sentences you gave are quite descriptive. This seems like it has great themes. With the poetic style, I'm definitely interested in this one. I want to know what project 114 is. Thanks!
