A romantic, poetic tale of lovers set during China's cultural revolution of the 1960's - not my usual genre, but may be a nice change of pace. Thank you for your review.

Wow, great review! Maybe the overuse of exclamation points comes from the writer's cultural background, who knows. I would love to read this book and learn more about China's history!

Life was really hard at that time in China, telling from your review. Was this not dictatorship sort of, where the some individuals were robbed right to education and freedom to choose what they want in life. Good review.

China is still a bit of a mystery to me so this sounds like an ideal book to read in order to understand it a bit more. I think it is a tragedy when a government imposes such strict measures to keep the entire population so ignorant. This sounds like a charming romance with some history and other information added to it. I enjoyed the review which has made me definitely consider reading this book, although pure romance is not a favourite genre of mine, but this looks interesting.

I was unaware that the Cultural Revolution was so dangerous an era. I would love to find out what happened to the lovers. Great review.

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, I want to learn more about the cultural revolution in China and how the people were affected. On the other hand, I get bored when a story is made out to be more dramatic than it originally should be. Anyway, I'm still open to giving it a chance as it falls under the historical fiction /romance genre, two of my faves. Thanks for the review.

While I like reading romance books, I am not a fan of the historical fiction genre. I am glad that you liked reading the book though. Congrats to the author on the 3/4 rating.

I also don't know much about the Cultural Revolution in China, and this seems like an interesting way to learn. However, I prefer to be shown and not told as well. Thanks for a wonderful review!

I would love the flowing, flowery language of the book, but not so much the political slant. Unfortunately, the setting of the novel isn't one of my interests. I think I'll be giving this one a pass. Thanks for the lovely review!

I really liked the review for current book, but unfortunately that is the extent I am willing to go for it, because romance is most definitely not among my preferred genres. Therefore I will have to pass this one, but wanted to congratulate on BOTD anyway))

I love to read both historical and romance but I am kind of not sold on novella part. I loved that you mentioned how you learned something from this book. Great review.
