From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical romance novel, which follows a twenty-two year old factory worker and her boyfriend who has a potential future as a politician in the Communist party. It seems like it would be worth a second look. Well done.

Having read the first few pages, I am definitely interested in finishing this story. I usually like historical romances, so I may be biased. The writing is very descriptive and really calls the scene to mind.

This sounds like an interesting and informative book about a time in China's history that I would like to learn more about. Thanks for your review!

I really enjoy historical fiction novels, but know very little about the cultural revolution, and therefore may just have to pick this book up.

I don't know a lot about this era in China, and I am interested in learning more! Great review!

This is something new! The general read we usually see is either related to world war, etc. But this read takes us to China as well as back to the revolutionary period. Thank you!

The storyline seems interesting. It seems to be a good book to understand capitalism in China during 70's. A romance novel with a touch of historical fiction made this book fascinating. Congrats on BOTD!

A nice story in the book "The Sound of Spring" by G.X. Chen" , which follows Chun Ming, a 22 year-old factory worker and she is in love with Fang Si Jun, her boyfriend and also a boss at a factory with prospects of climbing political ladder. How political climate affect Chun Ming’s relationship with him is interesting to note.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Thanks for a great review. The writing sounds quite poetic and should add to the romantic element of this novel.

I'm sorry. I tried to like this book, and I read a couple of chapters, but I just didn't care for it. I may not have stuck with it long enough. I read the first 3 chapters, but maybe because the couple is so young? I didn't want to keep reading until they got to be my age I guess. Maybe it's too romantic? I'm not even sure what I mean by that.
Anyway, I have hopes for tomorrow's book.

The Sound of Spring by G.X. Chen is a romance novel. It also showed a the era of 1979. I rarely choose romance, but I think this one has much more than romance.
