Cultural Revolution is a fresh subject for me. I have some basic ideas about capitalism, so I will be pleased to expand my knowledge. Also, the author's poetic writing style seems quite inspirational. I have to admit that at first sight, the book's cover sent my thoughts to a children's book. I was surprised to see that the theme is miles away from a children's story. Romance and historical fiction sound like a lovely and educative mixture. Wonderful review! Thank you!

A mix of poetry and prose. Sounds quite like Spring. I'm sure this romantic novel will be an interesting one.

The book sounds interesting. The transformation of capitalist China into a socialist China and its subsequent impact on the society is wonderfully depicted.

Didn't know anything about China and the cultural revolution before this review. It's always good to read books that drop some real knowledge on you, even if that is not the book's primary goal. Great review!

I really liked how this book presents China's cultural revolution. I knew nothing about it until I read this review. Because I am not into poetry, I will likely give this one a pass. Excellent review though!

I'd love to read this love story, especially considering the author's metaphorical prose and the historical details on the consequences of the Cultural Revolution in China. Thanks for a great review!

Despite my dislike for historical fiction, this sounds like an educational read with insights into the consequences of China's revolution. Thanks for the review.

The book sounds like a perfect blend of romance and historical fiction. I have never read anything on the cultural revolution in China so this may be a good start to learn a few things about that era.

Your review makes this interesting , I wouldn’t have sampled it if it wasn’t for your review. I also liked how you were critical on the book being overdramatic.

Thank you for sharing your review with us. Although I’m not particularly interested in the topic of politics, the romance aspect does sound rather intriguing, and I rather liked the poetic writing style of the author. I think I will add this one to my reading list.

I would not be reading this novella for the romantic stuff but I will read it sometime to learn more about China and about the Cultural Revolution, and also to investigate the poetic writing style you mention. Can’t say I’m a fan of overused ellipses and exclamation points, but am willing to overlook that.
