[Breaking Sandcastles By Kirk Burris ]

The story starts in present-day with Johnathan and His Wife Marion wakes up and notices her husband is not in bed beside her and the setting is set in a retirement home they have brought that they are renovating at the moment after Marion wakes up she stares into the mirror saying to herself she is not the same twenty-year-old girl but the older age of sixty-four now she slowly goes to the kitchen and says the word bloody after trying to work the coffeepot and ends up dropping her cup when she sees her husband outside unresponsive which I found funny even though she is not a brit she uses it in her vocabulary a lot. She looks out the screen door to see her beloved Johnathan laying on the sand as soon as she sees him her feet take flight trying to get to him. There is no time he is gone, and then the story jumps to Johnathan in his high school days where he is interested in Miss Kelly His new art teacher P.S. His future Wife Marion is the art teacher, but for him at seventeen in 1960, it is not allowed. Still, then he begins to dreams about her and Johnathan becomes a little obsessed with her he thought she was one of the new students when they first meet it's slightly awkward because he is looking up her skirt and falls looking lol.

"It’s not just a simple romance, it’s a well-rounded novel which includes murder, mystery, heartache and disaster." An intriguing book that follows Marion and Jonathan's love story. I wonder if they will be able to overcome the age difference. Great review! Thank you!

Teachers developing romantic relationships with students is generally a big no-no. I have an open mind, but I’m not sure I could find a way around this!

It sounds like an interesting story with a lot of wonderful variations in the setting. There is a big double standard when it comes to an age gap romance between an older woman and a younger man. I am assuming that the characters are both adults when the romance actually develops. Thank you for the informative review.

Wonderful review! I am so eager to read this romantic story which brings out all the emotions in you. I wish Marion and Jonathan the strength to face the judgmental society and hope so many lovers facing similar situations take a literal "page out of their book". Congratulations on the BOTD!

Good character development is one of the primary things I look for when I'm reading. It sounds like the author excelled in this area. I don't think I'll be reading this one as both your review and several on Amazon refer to the fact that the ending is (apparently) extremely sad. I'm not one for unhappy endings. I prefer to feel good at the end of a book. Excellent review, thank you!

I think the novel will be more appreciated by readers who enjoy romance. Unfortunately, not to my taste, but I liked that the novel has murder and mystery elements as well.

How lovely that the book includes plot twists. Seeing the characters tackle their insecurities and scrutiny from others due to their age gap is intriguing.

I was initially concerned about the age gap considering the setting was in high school. I'm glad that was clarified. The story does sound intriguing. I can't help be curious at the murder bit. Who was murdered? This well-written romance is going straight to my library.
