Stephen King is awesome

^ Yeah, I agree, IT was a fantastic and terrifying concept but the ending really let it down, has nobody mentioned the 'Turtle'?? It was the spider and the turtle at the beginning of everything, and not only was that a bizzare explanation for good and evil, Im not even sure King himself knew what he was talking about when he referenced them, just a ridiculous part of the story and like Gannon says, King has sometimes made huge epic novels with no idea how to end them with satisfaction (Under the Dome). At least he is back on track with 11.22.63.

SKM...watched a commentary about the book where Stephen King admits he tossed his ending of 11-22-63 for something his son wrote which was (in his opinion) a much better ending...

Wow that's very interesting news. I wonder what his original ending was going to have been? I really like his son's writing and have enjoyed his books.

Hi Carla. Yep I have read "Heart Shaped Box" and "Horns" and loved them both. I thought exactly the same. His writing is so similar to his father's, I at first thought it was King himself with a Pen name. I wonder if SKM man has read them and what he thinks. Well SKM?

Loved Hill's collection of short stories 21st Century Ghosts. I really like that he didn't just try to cash in on the Stephen King name, too!

No, I havent read any of his son's books. I get a bit of a blockage when it comes to nepotism like that, Im sure he has talent and imagination etc but I would be constantly comparing him to the original and best. Maybe if i read his work not knowing he was King's son I may like it but his alleged talent is always going to be bluffed up compared to some other nobody who is coming through- Let's face it. King's son definitely didnt have to get too many rejections or knockbacks in his well-connected life so I will wait and see if his legacy will become as famous as his father and is adored on his talent alone and not on his surname.

I have read both of Joe Hill's books and really liked both of them - especially Heart Shaped Box. I did not know he was Stephen King's son when I first read it but he is one heck of a writer. No nepotism involved that I can see. If he had no talent, I don't think he could have gotten a paper published. It must be wierd for him to write in his father's "shadow" as these comparisons must be a regular thing.

I have everything Mr King has written. I prefer his early work to his most recent - people grow - they change. He is one heck of an author, in any case. I have spent many a long night cowering by a lamp as I read his work...

Yes, SKM is really missing out on two very good books by thinking that Stephen King may have had a hand in the books. To be honest I very much doubt it. I think it would be the complete opposite and Stephen King would be very critical of his son's books, not wishing the literary world to suspect nepotism.

I dismissed the idea of neopotism when he (the son) did not come out on Stephen Kings coattails or mention anywhere on the book cover/blurb that he was associated with Stephen King. I truly thought it was King writing under a pseudonym again. Good stuff.

Ahhh spoiler alert! It turns into a giant Spider?!? Well I guess you saved me from reading that book :p

I really enjoy Stephen King's novels, but I'm not sure he really knows how to properly end them. Other than Thinner, I can't recall if I really enjoyed any of the endings. I most certainly did not appreciate the ending to the Dark Tower series.

I have to a agree with KirkB, I enjoy reading King's novels, especially his earlier writings, but they rarely have a good ending. There's 700 pages of great prose then it just ends!
