One of my favorite verses is Romans 8:28 "for we know that God works all things together for the good for those who love Him, who are the called according to His purposes." He takes what I see as bad, or what was intended by the world as bad and makes it work together for good. For example, losing a job at first seemed like a horrible nightmare. God turned it into good when He allowed me to retire, to forgive and become friends with the person who was forced to let me go, and to do things that I never had time for before. The person who wanted me to be let go meant it for their own good and certainly not for mine, but God turned into good things for me!

And one other: Philippians 1:6 "he who began a good work in you will be faithful to continue it until the day of Christ Jesus" This is my life verse. To me, it means that He's always working on me to be what He wants me to be. He started His work when He saved me from my sin and He never lets go!!

I'm quoting from memory, please excuse if my words aren't exactly as the Scripture is!

I think my favourite verse is Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." It helps to remind me that nothing is impossible when I have God on my side. :)

I've grown up in church and have gone as faithfully as possible in my adulthood, but I've found that I don't rely on Bible verses as much as do simply speaking to God from the heart.

Probably Philippians 4:8. I think this can be applied universally regardless of religious (or non-religious) beliefs.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Psalms 23 and 91 are particularly soothing to me. Verse 10 of Psalms 91 is particularly relevant to today's pandemic. A lovely read!

The Bible verses throughout the book were highly enjoyable for me, as well. Particularly, I appreciated that the author added Bible verses for both the abused and the abuser within the section on sexual abuse; it just reminded me that we all need God's Holy Word.

A personal favorite verse of mine is John 16:13: "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (ESV). I always seem to go back to it when I am feeling anxious or fearful about something. It always helps me to remember that Jesus has already gone before me, fought my battles, and came up victorious. It's definitely a power verse for me. :)

Amen! Philippians 4 has such wealth to it. I love Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (ESV). When I reflect on these verses, it always fills me with such joy that we have such a loving and kind God who is willing and wanting to hear everything that is on our hearts and on our minds. There's definitely no one else in my life who would want to know EVERYTHING, that's for sure! Hahah.

I am a worker in the relief sector, and I see a lot of injustices at the expense of other people on a recurrent basis. I find a lot of comfort in Psalm 9:9, which the author also mentions in the section for Survivors of Abuse:

"The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble".

I find this to be very uplifting; when we are feeling lost in life , it is comforting knowing that we are not alone.
I love this Psalm. I remember clinging so much onto this Psalm when I was going through a soul-crushing breakup two years ago.

I do have favorite verses. Each situation in life seems to have different verses that apply uniquely to it alone. Great question!

I could see it providing you with solace during a break-up for sure. Glad you found something to help!

I don't have a particular verse that I use in a crisis, but one of my mother's favourite verses "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want" always rings in my head, in her voice and it comforts me
