Do you ignore people when reading a good book?

Post by ebethina »

Do you ever get into such a good book you ignore your loved ones? I have done it to my boyfriend. I was so into a book I remember him coming upstairs talking to me but didn't reply. Than later when I finished the book and i had to ask him what he needed to talk about. Thankfully he is understanding but I also don't do it that often.

Well, I must confess I sometimes do ignore my husband when I'm reading. LOL. It's not all the time, though. It's impossible to put a good book down and I do not want to miss a thing. Fortunately, my husband is like your boyfriend, he loves me and knows me so he doesn't pay much attention to that.

I think they are understanding when it doesn't happen all the time. If it happened all the time i'd understand if I was questioned. It's good to hear I am not the only one

I have to admit...Yes. Yes, I do ignore people when I'm reading a good book. This is not an issue at home since I have my own reading nook. Also I think having a boyfriend who is also a bookworm helps.

Yeeees!!
One of the things that bothers me the most is someone talking with me while I'm reading.
Once, my room mate came to me while was reading, shook me by the shoulders and told me "study, you need to study".
It was my first day of classes of a new college year. I felt like throwing her out the 4th floor window.

I try to read either really early in the morning or late in the evening. That way I am not interrupted and can totally focus on my book. I get grumpy when I am in the middle of a good book and people interrupt me. Better to read while most are still sleeping. :techie-studyinggray:
Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.

Yes! When I read a book I usually have to do it alone because I get to caught up in it that I forgot others are around. I also completely forget about communicating with the outside world. I have forgotten to text/call people back for hours because I got so into a book that I did not realize HOURS had passed by.

All the time. It's not a good thing, but some books are just that good!

I don't usually ignore people no matter how engrossed I am. Unless if I had to finish it for some project.

I ignore everything while reading. I believe that's the best part of reading as I feel very focused while I am reading. I start feeling like my favorite character
Is there anyone who does the same?

Ha I can definitely say I've done this before, which either makes me a very good reader or a really bad people person. Honestly, I'll take both if it means I can keep reading.

I've done that a couple of times. So I'm doing my best to curb my impulse to open a book when I have company.
