Official Review: So Into Her by D. L. Yoder
When Marty attended a corporate Christmas celebration, he felt someone observing him, a beautiful woman named Yakiesha. But she was ready to say he was in danger as the new leader of the Excelsior research project. They couldn’t resemble to have a serious conversation. Because of that, they kissed, waking up feelings in Yakiesha about Paul, her partner that was murdered by the same people searching for Marty. But she couldn’t reveal the details since some enemies might be watching. Consequently, they left the party separated. However, Yakiesha got kidnapped in her way, and somehow, Marty knows she is in peril and where she is, so he runs to rescue her.
So Into Her by D. L. Yoder is a romance with aspects of suspense, crime, religion, persecution, and science fiction. In this novel, we see how Marty will react to his strange new power, how Yakiesha will overcome her previous relationship, and how they will deal with this mysterious connection between them.
My favorite feature of this book was the exceptional character development since the personas have consistent personalities and habits. But they also change and adjust themselves according to various situations and social communications. For instance, Marty is an extremely logical and correct man who needs to study every move he makes, but with those recent events, he won’t have plenty of time to think. We see how he adapts and uses these attributes in favor of them.
There’s nothing I didn’t like in this narrative. The story is well-written and engaging since it has funny moments, such as Marty’s jokes, but it also has thrilling and dramatic situations. However, I noticed a lot of errors while reading it, and most of them were typos. For example, the writer sometimes wrote the character’s name as Maria when it was supposed to be Marie. Because of the number of errors, I took one star off my rating.
Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It has an interesting and unique plot that combines a lot of diverse literary genres. The author created dynamic and fascinating characters. I recommend this novel for people interested in romantic and thrilling stories. Besides, this book has some allusions to religion, but it’s fitted for non-religious people too. But, I don’t recommend it for who is sensitive to the topics of kidnapping, violence, and abuse. Also, there are some phrases with profanities and moderate sexual content that might disturb some readers.
