Looking for specific book(s) to read

Post by Zaren »

Hello, I'm looking for a book that involves the protagonist in being forced to live in a prison-like scenario. Not exactly like a prison, but maybe like an environment that's sort of restricted. I also wouldn't mind it being realistic or in a fantasy scenario.

Thanks!

'The Night Circus' by Erin Morgenstern is a close to what you described. It is a story about two magicians (him an her) that are forced by their teachers to have a specific fight demonstrating their abilities. And the fight takes place in a circus which is like a prison to them. They can't escape it until they finish the fight. It is very colourful story, interesting to follow. I enjoyed it because Morgenstern was attentive to visual details, so it is very easy to imagine how everything looks like. It is full of magic, a bit of romance.
Hope this will help.

Hi.
Well there's a new book i found on amazon that i just read. It's called Hazedonya by Ale Mendoza or something. It's got romance, and although it does not have a prison environment, it does have a very restricted environment. has fantasy too. it was very interesting, and cheap to acquire too, which is nice. search it up in amazon.

I can offer a couple of suggestions:

Darkness At Noon - Arthur Koestler
The Lizard Cage - Karen Connelly
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald

There's a book called The Giver... I haven't really read it, but I've watched the movie 3 years ago. From what I remember, a certain place is made for experimentation(not exactly sure if I'm correct) wherein the people does not express any emotion. They just literally follow what is said to be done. Babies are not made by the parents, they are given to families. The healthy ones are given to families while the weak ones are killed.

Everyday before they leave their house, a serum is injected in their veins, making them lose emotions even sense of colors and taste.

Sometimes, a special person can see colors even with the serums. So that person is chosen to see what humanity really looks like and what emotions feel like.

But that person can't tell it to anyone. So in a way, it's like being isolated from everyone because of the knowledge the protagonist hold. And he is confined in that place where all the things he do are limited and watched by authorities.
