Books also help you in life and helps you to keep calm and relax forgetting about all your troubles, worries and problems.

Reading is relaxing whether you are laying on a chaise near the beach enjoying a cool glass of something or sitting by a fire in the winter with a drink to keep you warm and toasty.
I hate waiting in line, but that is a part of life; whether in real lines or on the phone. It makes it so much easier to just take out a book and read. Plus we should take advantage of any and all opportunities to read. There are so many books and so little time.
Can fit reading books to our moods or how we would like to feel. We may feel we want to read about happy endings for awhile, and then we may want to switch to suspense or intrigue. It is all out there.

Why do I like reading? The answers are endless. The very first reason that I love reading is because I can escape the crazy reality of real life and enter into a new world.

Growing up, reading was my escape from reality... The Library was a magical place that held countless adventures to be lived out within my own mind. I would imagine myself as any of the characters within the book. I have a great respect for books because with books I have become who I am today.

And I read all of his different characters as well, although I think that I preferred Jesse Stone. I am not sure that Tom Selleck really was representative of the character, but Parker thought so and helped produce the series of made-for-TV movies so ......
To me he is a loss. I think more so because I had read a bit about him and knew how close and his wife were. He dedicated every book to her.
And although she was writing for a very specific audience, I always enjoyed books by Lillian Jackson Braun. I was in a small independent bookstore last weekend picking up some books (as I was on holiday and had run out of reading material) and that is the first I had heard although I guess she had passed away at 93 about a year ago. Her characters were fun and entertaining.
I very much liked Stuart Kaminisky as well. And Phillip R. Craig.
It is very true that throughout history authors have died. It is harder I think when they die in our own times. Again I don't want to diminish the loss to their families. But those who read their books are also part of that family in some ways. And we will miss their work.

Now it's for the pure enjoyment of getting lost in whatever is taking place in the book. Scottish Highlands, American West, Alternate World.

I read to be entertained...for reading makes me enjoy every detail of the story,
I read to empower myself mentally, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually,
I read to be informed by the things that are happening around us,
and more...

This will be my first winter retired so I am looking forward to being in charge of my own time and spending hours reading by the fire.
