Do you know what books he has already read? You could always search for one similar to it.

What does he like? Sports, politics, art, music, etc.? I read a book baseball player Kirby Puckett wrote as an "I pick a book for you and you pick one for me" challenge. It was actually pretty good! There are some fairly decent non-fiction autobiographies by many different politicians: I've read Oliver North's autobiography as well as Sarah Palin's. They were both good. There are generally non-fiction books based on musicians, it seems, and sometimes actors and actresses. Or, you could get him an autographed book or a first edition. Or, if he wants to travel somewhere or learn/improve a foreign language, you could go those routes. Or, if he collects anything, a book on collecting! Good luck!

What genre does he like? Maybe you can give him David Baldacci's Memory Man if he is into crime/thriller stories or Tuesdays with Morrie :)
Stay safe! Sending hugs
