The book left me intrigued enough to continue reading the series, which I did with great pleasure :) Overall, it's an outstanding premise to the series.
The action and surprises from the characters left the readers in suspense of wanting to discover what happened next. The writing technique is absolutely amazing.

There wasn't a single viewpoint that made me dislike it. It's an excellent start off to the series I feel. The story progressed slowly but it was pretty interesting. I especially like how the author will combine magical, physical, and other aspects of the world and bring it all together.
However, I gave it a 3 star rating as I found plenty of errors in it. And seeing as not many people found it as such, I'm really lost as to why..........
I enjoyed the fact that Matthew was able to alternate from the First person and third person perspectives. This prevented the book from being slow-paced, as compared to a narration based on one point of view.

Galen's journey from a desolate and desperate world to Voulhire is quite touching and it is easy to feel his emotions and joy as he explores the new lands. I love the mystery and power behind Lord Meldorath and his motives. Additionally Galen's two companions are not as forthcoming and also have their own stories to hide. I think this is clever and sets the book up for the next sequel. What I didn't like is how at times the stories disconnected from chapter to chapter, it took some effort to get back to the flow.
I resonated with Galen's ambitions. I mean, he came from a war-torn town, he traversed all the way to Voulhire on his dying uncle's request, for search for greener pastures. His resilient was worth-noting.

I gave this book only 1 star: the characters are not interesting enough and there’s not enough plot to keep the reader invested. It reads like a first draft of a possibly promising story. The author needs to correct the various grammatical mistakes and to flesh out a stronger plot. In other words, he needs to rewrite.

This book was quite intriguing. For an opener to the rest of the series it does its job to draw you in. It however, suffers from pacing issuess and confusing information dumps in the first qaurter of the book. I had to give it a 3/4 rating as everything else was splendid.

This series has made Matthew Tysz one of my favorite writers. I love the authors writing technique, the way he describes the story is absolutely fascinating. The plot of this book is my favorite too: magic, adventure and suspense.

I liked the book. It makes a good fantasy thriller and is well written.
However there was quite a bit of unnecessary swearing and vulgarity which put me off a bit
Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are

4 out of 4 stars because it was perfect in every sense. Great character development, plot reveals, no errors. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

It was an entertaining read. I'd like to see it adapted into a movie. The war dance of the Riva Rohavi guys intrigued me a whole lot, but Galen's adventure is more interesting. After all, who doesn't love the underdog story? The abrupt ending kinda annoyed me, but it is a series, so I read the next one. I rated it four stars, therefore I'll recommend it to other people because of the supernatural stuff in it.

I like the book especially since it is a fantasy book. I love that the author includes the map of Voulhire because it helps visualize of the places he talks of in the book. I don't dislike anything and the book was a great one that I could immerse myself into. I enjoyed reading it as the author introduced me to the great fantasy world that he had created. I gave the book a 4 star rating and I would recommend it to my friends, family and other readers especially the fans of love fantasy.

I would give it 3 out of 4 stars as the book is very enjoyable, but full of grammatical errors. I loved the character of Galen the most. I think Tysz could have give woman characters a bit more prominence. Any fan of epic fantasy should love it, because it's modern fantasy at it's finest.

I enjoyed the book a lot. It did have more profanity than I thought necessary, though which is why I did not give it a perfect rating. But the story was interesting and I liked the development of Galen's character. Meldorath is a fascinating character too.

The book deserves the full rating as it was well-edited with good character development. The most intriguing part of the book is the author's ability to sustain the plot with the many characters. I'll gladly recommend the book to lovers of fantasy.

I liked the creation of this wonderful world, but also I was having glimpses of some famous novels. The middle portion of this novel was very boring. I didn't like that part. It's only full of conversation. I can give it 3 out of 4 stars.
