This book is definitely a great read. I liked the idea of world- building that Tysz made evident. However, I would have expected Galen to play a more forward character. A few twists here and there also made it fun to read. Well done!

I'm always apprehensive of taking up fantasy novels but I did not regret this one bit. I liked the way this book was structured to be as an introduction to the entire series and almost all the characters were multi-layered. The protagonist is an innocent, kind-hearted person and it would be interesting how his character shapes up in the future books.

I rated it 4/4. I liked the fast pace of the narrative and how the author has a wide cast of characters without a single one being unecessary. I also liked the parallels between history and the plot such as the Vatican like city. I did not like the violence but it seems to mesh with the narrative. Though I didn't like the gory bits I applaud the author for the graphic description while maintaining an economy of words for describing post attack loot and assaults. I would definitely recommend it to friends especially those who enjoyed GOT.

Honestly, I didn't really like the book. Somehow, there are a lot of tropes that I don’t like. Again, I only read the first one in the series so maybe I’m wrong and maybe the other books are better.

It can take me a little while to immerse myself into the completely new world/s being created in a fantasy book. In the beginning chapter, it felt like I was a step or two behind. But once I began to understand more of the dynamics at play (and how relatable a lot of the themes are), I could enjoy it more enthusiastically. Overall, I found this to be an approachable fantasy book largely because of its connections to humanity.

I rated the book a perfect score. I am a fan of epic fantasy books and this one just hit the spot for me. There's so much potential in this first book with the mythology the author has created. It can actually be adapted into a movie, and I would definitely watch it!

4 ou of 4. The book had an intersting plot, well-developed characters, a well-thought-out action plan for the subsequent books. Great addons and excellent editing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I rated 4 stars because it was such an intriguing plot. Including the map was a brilliant idea. It was pretty cool to know where the towns were located. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. :D

I gave this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was well-written and the chapters flowed smoothly. Each chapter was devoted to a single character, which helped me keep track of the different characters. The map at the beginning of the book, and the reference pages at the end, helped a lot with my understanding of it.

I rated this book 4 out of 4. I didn't read the rest of the series yet, but I am intending to, especially because of all the action at the end of this book. I like the characters, especially Rowan and Galen. I am, however, a bit confused when it comes to who can do magic and who can't. Is it in your genes like Harry Potter, or is it something you learn?

YOU. ARE. THE. DEAD. Oh my God. I got the chills so many times toward the end of this book. It completely blew my mind. It managed to surpass my high expectations AND be nothing at all like I expected. Or in Newspeak "Double Plus Good."

Let me preface this with an apology. If I sound stunningly inarticulate at times in this review, I can't help it. My mind is completely fried.

This book is like the dystopian Lord of the Rings, with its richly developed culture and economics, not to mention a fully developed language called Newspeak, or rather more of the anti-language, whose purpose is to limit speech and understanding instead of to enhance and expand it. The world-building is so fully fleshed out and spine-tinglingly terrifying that it's almost as if George travelled to such a place, escaped from it, and then just wrote it all down.

I read Fahrenheit 451 over ten years ago in my early teens. At the time, I remember really wanting to read 1984, although I never managed to get my hands on it. I'm almost glad I didn't. Though I would not have admitted it at the time, it would have gone over my head. Or at the very least, I wouldn't have been able to appreciate it fully.

I rated this book 3 out of 4 stars. I just had to take off a star for all the violence. There was also just so much going on, that it was confusing at times. I kept having to go back to recall who everyone was. This book will appeal to those who enjoy fantasy books with a violent edge to it.

I rated it a 2/4 as I found the info dumping and telling readers what was happening instead of showing us annoying. I have other reasons as well, but I like when authors trust their readers.

I believe Mathew Tysz did a great job in putting up this book. Therefore, I would still give him 4 out of 4 stars. There were a few errors but still it's a great book!
