A historical political plot set in Korea seems to explore the cultural values in spite of Japanese rule. Nice review, inaramid. Thanks.

I have never read a book about Korea during this period. I think the author provided a great eye-opener regarding Korea's history. Embon sounds like an inspirational character capable of making positive change through his efforts with this group of revolutionaries. I like that the author has provided several alternate perspectives, which allows the storyline to be multidimensional. Thanks for the beautifully written review!

I'm curious about this book. Especially as it is picked for the book of the month. I can see how the issues with points of view can be a reason for the lower ratings. Great job with the review.

I'm not a fan of historical novel but I can appreciate young revolutionaries fighting for freedom of their people. The review was written exceptionally well.

I'm sure that the author did a lot of research to write this book. People interested in Asian culture will probably enjoy this book, but that is not my case, unfortunately.

I used to enjoy reading Pearl Buck's book for all the cultural information, and this book sounds like it might have a similar style.
