1. I'm miserable because I have to go out in the wind and rain to buy bread and milk.

2. I'm even more miserable, because I fell like a wimp worrying about point #1, compared to enduring Hurricane Sandy.

@ Mike, thats probably true. I think it was Harry Reasoner or one of those commentators who said we tell you the news you need to know. I get more from short wave stations than I do on main-stream media.

I thought I was going to have a good day today, my dog is out of heat, I made some great lentil soup, I found some arrowheads I thought I lost, then my neighbor came over and said my power line is down. The support that was holding it broke and the line is almost down to the road. After a closer look, I found that the line is rotten and the insulation is coming off, bare wires sticking out and just generally f---d up. The electric co. said they would be here in 48 hours to fix it. I hope so, if it breaks any farther my pole and meter will come crashing down and probably electrocute some poor sap who might be next to it. You think you are finally on top of things then that brown cloud of skunk doo-doo moves in overhead and really lets you have it.

@bighuey. I know what you mean..just when I think I can relax and enjoy, something comes along to spoil it all. Hope you get it fixed before you have a fire!

Thanks, Bighuey, for putting my problems in proportion. I've got a corroded light fitting, but you've got a power line down... No comparison!

I'm still wondering what Bighuey is doing with arrowheads? I'm scared he'll discover that love sick bow wow is actually a baby tyrannosaurus :o

Thanks for your concern, guys. They should be here today or tomorrow to fix it. The thing that worries me is that if some high profile vehicle comes by, it could pull it down and having a live wire down on the road could be dangerous. Theres a lot of kids around here who could get hold of it.

@ Fran, if Taffy turns out to be a T-Rex, Im saving the arrowheads for a means of self-defence. Right now she's about the size of a shoebox, but with good care and feeding you never know.

I am miserable because I've got a headache. I've had it for days now. And because Mike's pub is shut, where I would usually go for sympathy.

They still havent fixed my powerline yet. I reported it again, they said MAYBE this week they will fix it. Like they say, welcome to Mexico. Everything here is manana. Other than that, I had a pretty good day. Except I had to spend money. That sucks.

My friend nagged and nagged until I made a doctor's appointment for my earache that has lasted a week. She even made the phone call and stood over me while I made the appointment. I hate seeing the doctor. I expect that I will be well again before keeping the appointment on Monday.

I dont blame you, Coldfire. Besides being expensive, going to see the quack is a pain in the butt. One thing you might try for an earache, if you know someone who smokes, have them blow smoke in your ear. I used to do that with my kids and it usually worked.

Hey BH, last time I went to the doctor was a "pain in the butt" literally. I got this big painkilling needle right in the butt. Could not sit down for about fifteen minutes.

Our National Health Service is free at the point of service. We pay for it through our taxes. When I made the appointment, I was dismayed to find that my previous doctor had left the practice. He was very professional and competent, and courteous as well. I can't expect the replacement doctor to be up to his standard.

Thanks for the advice. We tried it, but it didn't work this time. :(

My dog got sick and threw up and had the runs all over the floor. Luckily I have tile floors and it was easy to clean up. At least it wasnt on the bed like she did last time.
