Official Review: Intimate Sex More Often by Dave Robin
Who wouldn't want to have really good sex all the time? Intimate Sex More Often is a culmination of notes about how to have mutually satisfying sex every single time. Dave Robin provides tips and tricks from his own personal experiences as well as data he has gathered from his research with doctors and sexual partners to provide the reader with as much information as possible.
He begins by discussing foreplay as not only a "get it done" activity. He notes that foreplay can (and should) take multiple hours, and consists of mostly flirting and communication. He then discusses the ideas for the deed of intercourse itself in non-graphic terms. Finally, he lists tips for the "afterglow" when the session is complete. Additionally, Robin provides a comprehensive list of 50 ways for men to last longer.
Intimate Sex More Often is a sort of self-help book which, in my opinion, every sexually active (or sexually curious) person should pick up in their lifetime. I read it to my husband in one night, and while a lot of the tips seemed obvious, we did find some really sound advice. My favorite part of the book was the foreplay part. Robin mentions that some people have a predisposition about what "foreplay" actually means. Really, foreplay is all the time you spend intimately before sex occurs. This could be over dinner, chatting on the couch, or even talking about uncomfortable topics in order to be fully open with one another. This vulnerability creates confidence to make sex more rewarding for both partners.
This book was pleasantly concise and easy to read. There was no profanity or graphic eroticism. Sexual acts are not described in great detail, but the terminology used may affect sensitive readers. For example, if you can't bear the word "penis", this book is not for you. I would recommend this to any sexual being- male, female, or otherwise- as a sort of "back to basics" refresher to help bring the romance back into their relationships.
Overall, this was a great little book. I could tell that Robin had it edited professionally, as I only found one error in the entire book. I believe that he worked hard researching and gathering notes in order to construct the lists he provides. He left nothing for me to complain about. I am happy to give Intimate Sex More Often 4 out of 4 stars.
