What a coincidence! I just watched a program on the Discovery channel about a dog named Bear in Australia and how it was trained to search for koalas. The dog is an enormous help for zoologists who try to escalate population of koalas after recent forest fires. I believe this book's hero will be just as wonderful as his namesake!

What a great story for a children’s book. First I’m hooked on the fact that it is a non fiction, and second , that Bear is a rescue dog! This is certainly a great teaching opportunity both in the love of animals and the compasión to have a rescue dog.

Even though I love the lesson about rescue dogs, the lesson about aging dogs is even more appealing to me. It is very unique. Great job with the review.

It sounds like a wonderful concept to teach children about rescue dogs and taking care of their pets in general. Unfortunately, the many errors might influence the children who read it into thinking that proper writing doesn't matter. I don't think I'll be purchasing this one. Thanks for the thorough review!

Nice review. You gave a number of examples to justify the rating. Actually looks like a cute book. I have a couple of rescues myself!

:D This book is for a animal lover .The funniest part of the book was when Bear became upset about the new swimming pool and shed. Our dog often does that with new things :tiphat:

I am glad that the text is easy to understand and simple. As I understand it is book for children to teach them how to take care of a pet.I was very touched by the fact that the dog was adopted from the local animal shelter. It will be a great bed time story for children.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting children's book about a family that fell in love with a young Shih Tzu mix that they adopted. Although I am a little too old for this story's targeted audience, I found it very touching. I am an animal person myself and feel that people and animal can better each other as they develop a relationship. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

I think it is a bit sad to hear that there are so many mistakes in a small book like this. The story seems touching though. I think it can be a good short experience if you want to share with children. Thanks for your review.

Sounds like a very nice story, especially for children. I’ve actually known a couple dogs that have been named Bear before. It’s more common than you’d think. Thanks for the review!
