This book looks like a cute story for children and would be a great gift to a family getting a new pet. Thanks for the great review!

A non-fiction book that tells about a family who adopted a dog from a shelter in Texas. It will follow the dog’s life as he adjusts to a new environment and grow with his new found family. As a dog person myself, this book will certainly be an emotional ride for me. Congrats on BOTD.

I love that it feels a lot more personal since it's a real-life story. I'm sure kids would appreciate it as it would also give them a unique (if not better) reading experience.

AWWW, a true story about a family and their beloved dog! Knowing this is a true family in the book and their real dog, children will love it even more! I have had two Shih Tzus, and they are my absolute favorite dogs! Thank you for the great review!

Shih Tzu owner here--our little guy passed some time ago but I wish I'd taken more pictures. This sounds like a great way to remember a friend.

This seems like a sweet story. It could also be a good way to teach kids about pets.

I would definitely love a story about a rabbit-chasing Shih-Tzu mix that was adopted from a local animal shelter! 🐶 I bet the author’s inclusion of personal family photos made the story about Bear truly special indeed. Thank you for your informative review!

While this sounds like a sweet tribute to a beloved family pet, the typos you describe (as well as those in the synopsis) put me off the book. It is particularly frustrating when books intended for children have typos.

Thank you for the feedback. My dog is also a rescued dog, so it's great to know there are books like this.

I have never read a non-fiction children’s book before. I'm glad that the author has written a book about the his beloved rescue dog. I like it that the text is simple and easy to understand. However, I'm not a fan of children's book. Otherwise, congrats on the BOTD!
