I agree that the universe has plans that we don't often desire. I love good books with strong female characters. It's good to know that there was nothing in this book that you disliked.

It seems like a very touching story. I'm curious about how Bahar overcomes the tragedies. Congrats!

It sounds like an interesting book. I like that it causes the reader to go through so much emotion, and also the cultural element to the plot.

Bahar and Omid's story is emotional and heartbreaking. The great descriptions and characterization employed by the author, Rezai, draw the reader into the story with ease. I can't wait to read the entire book. Thank you for an amazing review.

Thank you for your wonderful review. From reading the sample, I can see how many emotions will come out of the reader. While I like the main good character to have things they want, I really like it to be like life is, not perfect. I have added this book to my list of books to read.

I have only read the sample on Amazon, but i found it a bit confusing about the location where Bahar's visiting Shirin as well as her first date with Omid, which was sweet and naturally practical. It was stated clearly that Bahar was invited to fly to San Diego, U.S. However, London or "Central London" became details that appeared repeatedly in the early chapters making me feel like they were in London, U.K. There were many other factors related to the London theme drawing me to feel and imagine the story was happening there, but then San Diego reminders came up at some checkpoints to snap me out of the song "London Boy" - Taylor Swift. I ended up googling to recheck which country San Diego locates.
Besides, Bahar was described to be an Iranian citizen. Her perfectly native American English writing style struggled to convince me her identity.
From my perspective, Omid is loveable. Shirin and her husband sound lovely and thoughtful. Bahar, on the other side, does not seem to be real or attractive or even interesting. Her lawyer career sounded intriguing but according to the review here, it was abandoned. On the first date, when she was waiting for Omid, she told that she was happy her stomach was empty one page and the next page she said she was so hungry when ordering. Small details like that keep her confusing and far from the "strong woman" model. Sadly, she is the leading character.
I enjoyed the date with Omid but I wouldn't like to get a copy of the book.

The review is very enthusiastic and the book sounds very heartwarming and emotional. But the book descring cancer and all the stages of grief and sadness ragarding this state is not for me. Still I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Sounds a bit too sad and depressing for me. However, I'm sure other readers will find it interesting and will appreciate the emotional aspect.

Thanks for a well written review. This book would be helpful to learn about grief and what one can do both as a friend to one in grief, or as one experiencing grieving circumstances themselves.

This story is very similar to what I’ve had to go through losing both my parents last year. Losing them was hard, but nothing is more difficult than going through an illness with someone and trying to find hope in the darkness.
