I was going to say Momo begs to be made into a movie, then I checked wikipedia just to be sure. Lo! it is a movie!

Hmmm, so now I'm suspicious, as I am of all movies that are made from great books....

The book I'd love to be made into a movie is The Secret of Crickley Hall by James Herbert.

I read it quite a while ago now but the description is so vivid that it already feels like a movie and so when I go to pick out a horror film I always want it to be this one, but then I remember it was just a book.

This is certainly one of the best horror books around and the horror movie genre would, I think, benefit from having this among their ranks.

I would also love to see Tithe by Holly Black on the big screen and The Saga of Gösta Berling by Selma Lagerlöf. The later was already made into an amazing movie back in 1924, but I am curious to see what modern film makers would do with it. However, it is an extremely difficult story to capture on film.
You know, my friend and I were recently talking about how brilliant Holly Black's books would be on the screen. The problem is, I feel like they'd have to put a lot of work and money into them to make them great.

The way I picture them is a bit like the movie 300 looked. Really surreal and imagery oriented. I really disliked that movie, but while I was watching it all I could think was, "Is that real? What kind of world looks that way?". Tithe and its sequels kind of revolve around the blurred lines that divide the worlds of Fairies and Ironside. I think that using that imagery would really get across the strange look of the fairy world when its characters and elements slip into Ironside.

There isn't doubt in my mind that those books will eventually become movies. The only worry I have is that they won't do the atmosphere of the stories justice.

It seems that most books that I have liked that have been made into movies have been very disappointing, with some exceptions, of course, such as To Kill a Mockingbird, or Gone With the Wind. This summer I didn't see The Time Traveler's Wife because I was so fearful that the movie would ruin the images that I had in my mind from the book. Later I heard that it wasn't a very good interpretation anyway, so I will continue to avoid. I think the movie that we make in our mind from a writers imagination is so much better than anything Hollywood could do. Although I do agree that a good version of The Vampire Lestat would be fun.

I would love a Ender's Game movie and at one time there was some talk of one but that seems to have ceased. Someone mentioned Anne McCaffrey's Pern books and I agree. I can especially imagine her Harper Hall trilogy being a very good miniseries.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugendes is wonderful and i think it would make an epic film. He wrote Virgin Suicides too, which became a great film.

Wow, Middlesex (which I thought was great) would have to be made into a mini series, since there is so much to it.

I really wish 'Wicked' by Gregory Maguire was a movie and not just a play!
I think some big time directors could make it magnificent, not necessarily Wicked but I really wish Tim Burton would take on the whole "wicked wizard of oz" theme. He could do an amazing job!

Any of the books in the Redwall series by Brian Jacques. I'd most like to see the same style that was used for the animals in the Chronicles of Narnia for them. I'd most want Mossflower to be the main book choice for the movie.

Definitely! They were supposed to make it after Interview with a Vampire but Tom Cruise wouldn't do it because Brad Pitt's appeal had gone up so much and he thought he wouldn't be the star anymore.

I would love to see Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner made into a film.

That would be brilliant. The Book's so different to the play, which is really upbeat. I loved the play but would be good to see a film that was really true to the book, then maybe they could do the sequel Son of a Witch as well.

Definitely! I loved those books. I loved the musical, thought they were good changes for a musical but the book was so adult it would be good to see a film which dealt with those issues.

Just reading the last Karin Slaughter book and I hope that her series are made into films! They've all got such great twists and I think all the characters are strong enough that people would connect with them on screen.
