A historical novel that tackles issues like family, sacrifices, and liberty sounds interesting. It looks like Maria finds her life partner in this book. A historical novel with a touch of romance. Congratulations to the author for winning the BOTD.

This historical fiction about the Inquisition really took my breath away! The Jews were heavily persecuted in this period along with the Muslims. The author is very creative in writing scenarios and realistic events. It makes you feel like you were there to witness everything that's happening. Congrats on botd!

This historical fiction book narrates the mistreatment of Jews by the Spanish and Portuguese inquisitions. I like how the author explores religion using diverse characters. There's Maria who's exploring Judaism, Aisha, a Muslim banished by her family, and Maria's former boyfriend is a Catholic.

A historical fiction story that is inspired by real-life events is certainly interesting. I have not heard about these events before so I look forward to learning about them. Thank you for the interesting review.

Although I enjoy reading historical fiction, the plot of the story did not seem too appealing. Hence, I may or may not read this book. But good job on the review.

This sounds like an interesting piece of historical fiction based on true events. I never knew about a Spanish inquisition in 16th century before. However the romance aspect grabbed my interest the most. Congrats on BOTD!!

This historical fiction story, to me, is just another reminder of the dark side of religion. But while such happenings could be excused on the basis of low social, cultural, and economic development at the time, it is sad that we continue experiencing religious conflicts today.
Thanks for the review.

:techie-studyinggray: I like historical fiction. Acts of Hope sounds like an intriguing story with well-developed characters. The diverse themes will make it appealing to a wider audience.

This book is about the persecution of Jews during the Spanish Inquisition. The Jews have been treated terribly for over 2,000 years and I feel for them. The official review was very good. Religion has been the cause of so many wars and the mistreatment of people all over the world.

Historical fiction is some of my favorite to read. I will have to check out book one before moving on to this one, but I like the premise.
