Can't gift a book for review

Post by simonbyard »

Hi Scott - I recently purchased a book review option for my work "The Shadows and the Darkness", and have been trying to send it via an Amazon gift, however, I have a problem with Amazon. I did try and send an e-mail for help, but couldn't find a contact, so just used the address sent with my registration confirmation. I got a mail from the review team today asking where was my book, so I tried to reply to that, but it's come back as a mail failure, with a note saying I can't reply on that account but to use this forum instead -so hope this is okay.

Basically, Amazon say I can't gift any kindle book as I am in the UK. I asked if I just logged into Amazon main website I could do it there, and they just replied I can't do it from UK again. I have tried through american site, and it blocks me out saying I can only purchase from myu country! The whole Amazon process for self publishing etc., is a complete pain.
Anyway, help - what should I do to get the book to you? Do I pay you the cost of purchasing it yourselves? Or do I send my original Word doc, that was uploaded for conversion?

Many thanks

Simon

Hi Scott - I sent a mail about this a few days ago (mentioned in my last post) with no reply, but I keep getting automated reminders to send off my gift book. Please can you reply and tell me how to work around this. I did try setting up another account with amazon usa, however, I only have the one credit card now (cut up the others to help me reduce outgoings) and as soon as I entered my card details, it threw me out saying I had to order from UK site - so it does seem possible, but you have to use a different credit card.

I remember finding a solution for you over email for this. However, upon review I can see that the reviewer was still unable to download the book because of a mistake I made when manually resolving it. I have fixed this later error and a reviewer should get the book shortly.
