A young widow making a fresh start and learning to love again sounds hard. As it is set in the 1940s, I am interested in the challenges she faced as a widow. Congrats on BOTD.

This story takes place in Colorado in 1940. Lilly has suffered greatly during her life. Her mom died while Lilly was young and her dad lost everything when the stock market crashed in 1929. Her father arranged for Lilly to marry Levi, the man that took over her family's property for non-payment and Lilly's seven years with Levi was a very painful relationship. Levi was very cruel to her and while he was rich, he made her live like a pauper. Levi died in a car accident and Lilly was finally free. Abuse, humiliation and lack of love describes her marriage. One needs to read the book to find out what happens to Lilly. Good review.

The first question I ask myself is, Did Lilly finally find her husband's fortune? Oh what a cruel man. Lilly of the Mountains by author D.L. Yoder sounds intriguing exploring the themes of forgiveness and betrayal. Oh I can't imagine the pain of marrying a millionaire yet when they die you don't receive even black cent.

It's not easy to find love after series of abuse. I hope love finds her vibes back and gets her inheritance. Kudos to the reviewer.

Historically, Lilly’s arranged marriage is unfortunately not uncommon. It’s great that this novel shows her having a chance to find true happiness, even with the ire of the people her deceased husband swindled threatening her. I’m not that into “finding faith” books and romance novels can be a bit tiresome if the romance is cheesy, but I’m intrigued by the idea of Lilly finding herself in helping others. Given the time period, she must face many challenges as a young widow as well, so that would be interesting. Thank you for the helpful review.

I like the theme of hope after a loss that is discussed in this novel. Life is full of tragedy and its good to read a hopeful story. Great review.

Lilli of the mountain by D.L Yoder is about Lilli Perkins who is a widow and had lot of losses in her young age. She was trying to live better life and help others though she abandoned, betrayed and abused. This is good book.

For me the whole idea of reading a book is to meet new people and be part of their world.. To escape my own life and be introduced to this whole new world.. I can't say i was introduced to a new world here because i kept on feeling like i was reading and the language is just simple which is great when you writing a well interesting piece but when it's a normal boom topic all novels have try using more interesting lauguage.. Not too much though 😉what am saying is make me part of the world you writing i need to see it feel it and more

The book begins with the recap of how the nation's wealth increased in the 20's then faced stock market crash in the 30's. This led to bank's failing and people withdrawing their money, men were laid off from work and this led to financial depression. This explains the rise of people like Levi Perkins who took people's savings but withheld it when they needed it. His wealth convinced Lilly's father to give him her hand in marriage yet she was against it.
During his burial, Lilly is happy that the life she lived of meaness comes to an end. However, she is attacked by Betram, Bobby and Tanner who demand all the money Levi left for her. They all suffer and the entire town believes that Levi Perkins still protects her which make people fear her.

I'm not a fan of romance, so I'll have to skip this book. However, it's a good portrayal of a dysfunctional family with a submissive wife. It's similar to most cases of domestic abuse I heard that's happening in real life. Congratulations on the BOTD.
