When it comes to men, Karoline believes in only one-night stands. She is not the type to love! Karoline has sex in the first date and never repeats the same man. Also, she doesn’t date coworkers. The hard part comes knocking in her life when she and her childhood friend, Jen, make a bet.

Jen and Karoline will exchange their sexual normalcy. Karoline will find a man to date but wait three months to have sex with him. Within that period, she should not fall in love with the man. On the other hand, Jen will have sex on her first date. A new coworker joins Karoline at work, and she finds herself feeling butterflies in her stomach. Is this a love feeling or just a normal sexual desire that will fade with time? Who will win the bet?

I admired many things. One, I didn't have to keep checking the meanings of intricate words and slang. Put differently, the terminologies employed were easy, making the story a smooth read. Karoline copes up with Victoria, despite her tantrums and an unbecoming personality. Even while going out for drinks and lunch, she handles her just fine. Karoline was a character I resonated with, especially her workouts.

There are details of childhood trauma, physical and emotional abuse, etc. Karoline’s mother underwent abuse from the men she gradually dated. Others even drained her financially. Nevertheless, the urge to feel loved kept her in abusive relationships. I kept asking myself, “after all the years of abuse, was it worth it?”

A few things presented a challenge while reading. Some words are repeated in the same sentences; hence, creating monotony. Such terms could be replaced by their potential synonyms. In addition, I feel like the book was one-sided. It was a bet between two friends, Karoline and Jen. However, the story focused on one party and only a few details about the other relationship. In a nutshell, I think it was a bit biased. Those are the things I loathed. For these reasons, I rate the work 3 out of 4 stars.

I did find a few grammatical errors. In general, the book is professionally edited. Everyone evolves to become better people, despite childhood or past traumas. And sometimes, we transition when we least expect it. A very suspenseful ending it was. Will there be a sequel? I hope there will. I recommend A Girl’s Bet by Kami O' to any reader who holds back on personal progress because of past incidences.

Karoline's life seems really reckless, and I wouldn't know why Jen would want to exchange her sane love life with an insane one. I'd love to know who won the bet though. Great review.

That's quite an interesting bet! I would love to read this book to see what the results were in the end. I have a feeling that things didn't go quite as planned.

This novel looks intriguing, though I'm not sure why Karoline and Jen would wager on something like that. Regardless, it appears to be engaging, and the plot appears to be fresh and original. I'm looking forward to learning about their escapades. I'm also wondering as to how Karoline's fling with her coworker ended, and whether or not she truly fell in love. But, above all, I'd like to know who won the wager. You did an excellent job with the evaluation.
