Louis, the crowned prince and soon-to-be king of France, wanted to rule his kingdom with kindness and fairness. So, when Louis' adviser presents a Korean family of three to receive a punishment for stealing food from the castle, Louis orders the guards to remove their chains and call someone to clean them. Louis never wanted to punish them, but as per the kingdom's law, he needed to make the father of the family, Lei, his servant.

When Louis travels to Ireland with his servant, Lei, a friendship blossoms, and Louis finds himself wanting more than a mere friendship. When they acted upon their physical attraction and found themselves lusting for each other, Louis fell in love with Lei. As problems arise and Louis' fiancée finds the truth about their passionate love affair, everything falls apart. Would it be the end of Louis and Lei's love for each other?

Lusting for Lei by P.K. Thomas is an erotic tale about two male lovers. It follows the story of finding companionship, which blossomed into an intense love affair. This short novel contains explicit homosexual erotic scenes and a few trigger warnings, such as non-consensual acts and manipulative partners.

For the technical aspect of this review, I appreciate the author's attempt to write beautiful phrases and use metaphors. However, I feel like the author's writing skills could be improved even more. Some transitions are not well-structured. The author would write one thought, and the next thought would be completely different than the thought before that. There's no cohesiveness between the ideas. The transition is not very smooth, which sometimes makes the sentences sound so awkward together.

As for my general thought about this book, I sometimes find myself uncomfortable because of the non-consensual scenes. Though brief, it's still enough to put me off. The protagonists being manipulative to each other also doesn't help. And it's not unintentional manipulation. Louis knew why Lei didn't want to talk to him, but he would pull this act that could gain sympathy or seduce Lei outright when he rejected his advances multiple times. As for the explicit scenes, even though the author used not too many vulgar words, the author still managed to make the scenes graphically, which I know some people might enjoy when reading erotic content. The plot is also established just fine for a book with 77 pages.

In conclusion, I would rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. I didn't enjoy reading this book because of the trigger warnings I mentioned earlier, but other people might like this book because of the explicit content and trope, the royal-servant affair. Additionally, the book was not well-edited. I found more than ten grammatical errors.

I would recommend this to people who are into homosexual erotica between two male lovers. On the other hand, I would not recommend this book to people who don't like being reminded of manipulative exes and unwanted sexual acts.
