One intention I had for writing this book is to help the readers notice the difference between intellectual knowledge and functional understanding. I once sat with Alan Watts, in his houseboat (in Sausalito, Ca.) and he dropped a paper cup onto his lap. He said, "That's intellectual knowledge. It's inactive in the world." He then dropped the paper cup onto the floor where it rolled around. He said, "That is functional understanding. It's active in the world." I hope the Ultimate Understanding becomes an active part of your world. That's when you begin seeing yourself differently :) Rob

"The Maestro Monologued" have given me alot life lessons and cleared my naiveness and doubt about myself. I now believe I can be whoever I want to be. Also I know know that I am not limited in the success journey. I know see things around me differently. It makes me understand the concept of 'flying without wings'.

I have been doing a lot of thinking about my life and how to move it forward. I really don't know what to do. The Intruders were very loud that I didn't seem to be making any sense of how to go about it. Thankfully, the book has opened my eyes to new possibilities.

I love your comment, Fine: "The truth of the matter is that we are how we are because we give attention to the intruder." That is a key point in my book. Thank you for pointing that out.

When I was in elementary school I complained to my teacher that the student sitting next to me was too noisy. She looked at me and smiled, then she said, "He is that way because he thinks he has to be." It's funny, but what she said didn't make sense to me, and yet I remembered the statement all of my life. Why? Well, she was pointing to the student's Intruder, and to the fact that he pays attention to what this unwanted mental house guest has to say, which is, "Be noisy so you can get attention." That student didn't know there was any other option, as your statement points out :) Thank you Rob

I think it was when I went on a date with my boyfriend and he told me that I changed a little bit. I looked more confident and talked positively.

Reading this book changed my mindset about a lot of things in my life. Coming from a family that is not financially buoyant made life difficult and not easy going. Through insights, I got from reading this book have helped me to see myself as the foundation of wealth through which other people will gain redemption.

There wasn't a drastic change and I don't think that was this book's intention; to revolutionised your life in one night. But I did notice one difference. I cut myself a lot more slack. I realise I am in control of what I am in control of and everything else is beyond my power. I think that is the first step to that drastic change.

This book was very enlightening. I used to see my achievements as the bare minimum and never appreciated anything I worked for. It made me really insecure and depressed. Now I’ve learnt to love myself and appreciate every thing I do. It feels wonderful to have read this.

the line " are you feeling stuck in any area of your life right now?" spoke to me directly. this is what got me hitched, and i want to read the book so badly now . i felt more comfortable knowing what each chapter is going to offer me. i was pre-prepared and ready for my soul searching, ready for the positive outcomes.

I love that you got the concept, "Stuck," Deepali. If one is simply to understand that the process of human growth and development is a matter of being "stuck and unstuck, stuck and unstuck, and stuck and unstuck, over and over again"... then the game of dealing with the howling NOs that are still echoing from years ago becomes far less frustrating and a lot more exciting.

Thanks for catching that, Deepali :) Rob

After reading the Maestro Monologue, I realised how powerful my mind is. I started cultivating a positive attitude toward whatever I do, and I have been doing greatly well in them. There are things I don't believe I can achieve, and now, I have been able to achieve them. For example, I had always believed that I couldn't code. But after reading the book, I created a renewed interest in coding, and I am getting somewhere.
