Looking for my First Book

Post by tulloch83 »

I'm a 19 year old girl in college looking for my first book to read for pleasure. I want to make sure it is a good one so that I will have a good first experience and continue wanting to read. I'm interested in a book that has a romantic love story; something with dramatic twists and turns that really have me on the edge of my seat, preferably a fiction novel. I feel like I want something with a deceitful plot, leaving me thinking "Oh my God I can't believe this." I looked at Borders recently, but I was referred to Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts, both of which seemed like they were geared towards an older audience.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A great short fiction book about a young lady with special powers and her struggles that all young ladies face. Easy to read.

Your first book to read for pleasure? Gosh, you've got so many years to catch up on =P
I won't propose a suggestion, but I'll say this: Read! Read now! Read a lot! There's such a vast array of reading material out there everyone in the world can at the very least find a niche. Experience all types of writing, and sample many authors. I believe reading, a good book, is the most reqarding passtime.

Yeah, you waited for such a long time to start reading! Try THE THORN BIRDS by Colleen McCullough. The book is one of my favorites

I think that the THORN BIRDS is the most suitable in your case, even though I don't like it much. It's a romantic story about a priest and a woman that lives in a farm and it takes place somewhere in Australia. Of course, there not many unexpected twists, but you'll find the last chapters both interesting and moving!!

I think Nora Roberts would actually be a good choice for you. She has quite a variety of romantic suspense that might just contain the twists and turns you are looking for. The Twilight series might also be a good choice. Depends on your own personal interests.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this.

Me neither. It's a fantastic book and one of my favorites, but Dickens certainly isn't an easy read for someone who is looking for her first pleasure reading book. I'd definitely start with something lighter and work your way up to this.
