I don’t think the two should be seen as similar. They could be compared though. When the pandemic began, there was panic but not as extreme as in Watchdogs when that apocalypse started. There was isolation during the pandemic but everyone was trying to help, together, unlike the segregation in the book.

Reading this book made me remember Pandemic. Though it should be compared to what happened when the apocalypse started, but there was isolation, we stayed with our family and friends but still not trusting anyone.

I did find a bit similarity, it's human nature to act untrustworthy of other and become all defensive when they are facing with danger.

Exactly! I thought I was the only one. There was a striking similarity between the lockdown/Covid period and this book. Of course, I must mention that this book was unique. However, it is necessary to state that there was a striking similarity.

Yes, I agree with this observation. There was so much similarity between the aura in "Watchdogs" and the coronavirus pandemic situation. It gave me similar vibes.

This book definitely had similarities to the pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, when the panic reached its peak, many probably felt overwhelmed by the feeling that an apocalypse was coming. In addition, the division, panic, and isolation in the book awakened my feelings about the pandemic.

Being still so close to the pandemic days, we may find similarities with the way we used to behave and feel during the terrible times when one was afraid to cough on a bus for fear he/she should meet daggers instead of glances...Suspicion is a recurrent motive in the book as well.

I agree with you on this. The book does give a similar situation when you think about it. It felt like the people lacked trust between each other. This reminded me how people could look at you when you sneezed in public.

Yes, I must confess that I observed certain similarities between human behaviour in the book and the one of the coronavirus pandemic.

Firstly, the level of mistrust that pervaded the book is reminiscent of how we all approached the COVID-19 pandemic immediately after its breakout. This is characteristic human behaviour in times of confusion and igborance about a newly developed issue.

The book is indeed a reflection and a postulation of human behaviour in similar global crises.

I thought that the book did have some similarities to the lockdown. You could see groups being formed and the mistrust between everyone. I remember when I had allergies and I didn't want to go out into public in case someone thought I was sick.

This is a very valid observation. I also noticed how everyone stuck to close groups with shared connections. This is arguably similar to what happened during the covid pandemic.

Yes, the feeling was familiar. I felt the isolation, the judgment, and the emotions in the book were quite similar to the pandemic period.

Now that I think about it, yes the book definitely has some similarities to the pandemic. The mistrust of everyone around you, the strange looks when someone coughs or pulls their mask down to have a cup of water. Everything just gave off bitterness towards one another. And because of all of this, in the book and during the pandemic, there was physical and emotional distance and isolation among the characters.

I could definitely make some relations and find similarities between the events in the book and the pandemic. When people are afraid, they act out in the most bizarre ways and the same could be said for the characters in the book and people in real life during the crux of the pandemic. The isolation during the pandemic was forced an fear permeated the entire world and so was it in the book as well.

This narrative reminded me a lot of the pandemic and lockdown scenarios. There was also a sense of isolation, with many just wanting to be associated with their own family. During the pandemic, this is exactly what occurred to many of us. However, I think this is just how human beings react to situations outside their control, either panic and isolate or panic and for groups.
