One theme everyone seems to be leaving out is the one of technological advancement. It was, for me, the headline theme.

I think it's a very controversial statement to say anyone can have preferences towards race because by definition, if your race is not my preferred race treating you equally with those of the preferred on would prove difficult and that in itself is racism.

I definitely agree racism was a theme as well as other heavier themes like war. There were some lighter themes though like resiliency and never giving up despite the obstacles.

Aside from racism, which is the main theme of this book, we also have forgiveness, patience, and war.

Id agree with you that racism is one of the themes in this book, but I'd also mention fear and adventure.

I feel that one of the greater themes in the book is racism, and I believe it sends a powerful message in regards to the society we all live in.
