I think the author is right. Planning for retirement would make it a beneficial time for the whole family without making boredom creep into one's new life after retirement. So yes, I agree that after retirement one should plan to keep himself or herself occupied. Whether it is named a career or not, it won't make a difference.

I agree with the author, retirement can be a new beginning. Unless one has managed to save a huge quantity of money and is able to play golf every day or be on vacation for the rest of their lives, we should plan to have an occupation post-retirement. Indeed there is a chasm between tradition and reality. I personally know people who worked decent jobs their entire lives, and had to delay their retirements because, whatever was saved couldn't cover the actual cost of living. As the author wrote, 65 years is not an old age anymore, past that age, most are still healthy, sharp, and feeling like they still haven't accomplished what would give more meaning to their lives.

Yes, I agree with the author. Retirement can be a new start for one. The age people perceive as an old age before is no more. People of age 65 are still working after living their young days.

I do agree with the author. For every employed worker, retirement should be something to put in plans. One is not going to be agile for life. In this part of the world where I stay, it is believed that one should depend solely on his/her salary job. You should have other side business that way you are prepared for the inevitable and financially secure. The author made some valid points in the book concerning this and I agree with this opinion.

It is hard to argue that retirement should be at the beginning of one's career as this will present a risk problem to most companies who need a guarantee of your continued service. Difficult to see how practical this would be.

I agree with the author that a person can no longer live just on retirement benefits in today's times since people are living so long. I don't think we need to begin a new career after retirement, but rather, retire later by doing what we love, or supplementing traditional retirement with other sources of income.

I definitely agree with the author. I don't think you should retire just to spend the rest of your life doing nothing. A person shouldn't waste years of their life just because they've spent some years working. There's always a new challenge to take on.

Yes, I agree with the author on this one here. The new reality is that we can't keep adopting the old retirement mentality. It should instead be a new start.

Yes I do agree. To me, retirement is just an odd concept and a person can still keep working if they like to or explore different career opportunities.

I think that retirement should align with what a person wants their retirement process to be. If a person wants retirement to be an end, then that's what it should be. I think that what's important in retirement is that there is a purpose.

I don't agree with the author on that as I don't think retirement can be a career. It may be a way of life but not a career.

I partially agree with the author. In the US, Social Security isn't enough for retirement anymore; therefore, other retirement plans are necessary, like a 401k, IRA, or in some cases, continuous work. I still think that retirement is a great goal we can all aspire for (if we choose to) with proper pre-planning. To me, I think the best way to enjoy it is by doing what you love (hobbies, traveling), while still having a sense of purpose. For some that might be a career. For others, they may want more freedom and that's okay too.

I fully agree with author. Life can become mundane and unfulfilling after work. So the transition to retirement must be planned with all the meticulousness and detail of a new career.

Retirement shouldn't be as hard as it is. It should be a lot more enjoyable, but the way money doesn't maintain its value makes it almost a requirement to keep working in order to survive.
