Realistically corrupt systems are a network of closely knit groups. Kickback are shared by all stakeholders within the system. Anyone not participating will immediately be removed from the loop. Aliens and newcomers are thoroughly tested before they join the group. As such it is a far-fetched assumption that one man, such as Steve would stand up against the entire force and succeed unless he has a partner as committed to change as he was.

impossible, corruption is the hardest thing to be ruled out of an organization but watching steve's determination and hard work let's watch and see.

Absolutely not. But they could spark a fire, which is what Steve tries to do in the book. If that fire grows, then it may be possible

I think a single person can can the course of a whole organization where corruption is concerned. That person should not give up trying no matter what.

I do not think that person should leave the system. If he plans right and gathers enough people that think like him, he can end corruption where he works.

If the stress is too much on that person, I think he should leave for good. You cannot stop corruption alone no matter what any body tells you. It is best you save your sanity and your life rather than die for a lost cause.

Truth is that one person cannot stop corruption. But if they're zealous enough, they can gain colleagues who'll all work together to end it. Ila

I think it would depend on the size of the organization and who they reported it to or what they did. Or maybe even how high up they were in the organization. Possible yes but I think highly unlikely.

No. A single person can not stop corruption. Attempting to do so would be suicide.

It is possible. It will not be easy, but with proper planning, strategizing, and patience, it is possible.

I think the answer to that question lies in the novel. In spite of heavy opposition, loss and setbacks, Steve did make a change, almost singlehandedly. For most persons, the risk would not have been worth the reward as Steve's life and those he loved were in danger. His fellow officers were definitely thugs, who would stop at nothing to protect their secrets and corruption. It stayed with me how Steve, as a new officer, would defend handcuffed detainees being beaten upon by cops. He faced opposition all around and was steadfast in his quest to right the wrongs he saw daily.

As someone who has spent over two decades working in huge organisations, I can tell you one man trying to make any sort of significant difference is absolutely futile. Ultimately, we are all just a number to these corporations, and - no matter how good you are at your job or how much you've contributed to the business - if you leave, they'll just find another number to take your place. I had two separate job roles at my previous employer which were made redundant despite the hundreds of employees and managers these decisions displaced. I don't want to sound bitter, but it's ultimately all about the dollar. Business decisions in giant corporations rarely consider the lives of real people and how they might be affected. One man trying to make changes from the inside is like being on Twitter: you're just screaming into the void.

I do not think that person should leave the system.

Can a single person stop the corruption in such a huge organization?
Yes. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. That person can lay the foundation for a corruption-free organization and others will build on it in time.

No. It's impossible I think. There is nothing Steve can do if the majority is corrupted. He needs more colleagues like him to get to his dream. Good things are hard to happen, but corruption is like leaven, it needs little effort to corrupt the whole.

Both are, in my opinion, perfectly valid choices. One has the right to protect his or her integrity. And that's fine, especially if you have, for example, kids who could be endangered. However, without people who risk their safety, so-called "whistleblowers" corrupt organizations would never change.
