1. Mystery/ thriller/ suspense
2. Historical Fiction

I actually prefer a mix of two or three genres, if possible. My favorite book, The Stolen Child, tends to be listed as "magical realism," a smart combination of realistic fiction and fantasy. Because of the mix, I often find copies of the book in both the fiction and fantasy sections in bookstores.

Top three would be science fiction, fantasy, and romance. Out of those my number one would be science fiction.
