Books Based On Movies

Most of us have read books made into movies, but what about books based on movies? I always thought this was kind of an odd concept. Back when I was in high school my father bought me the movie Chronicles of Riddick with the book based on the movie because he knew I liked to read. I still have yet to read it.

Has anyone here ever read a book based on a movie? Was it any good? Did it add anything to the overall story for you? Any thoughts on this concept?

I believe that reading a book is much more interesting and thrilling than watching its film. we try to imagine the people and the scenes..Amazing experience

Hmm ive never heard of books based on movies and were put on books before, is there such thing? If there is let me know pls. Ill be gladly to read it

I enjoy reading more than watching a movie as well, but I just don't think I would be interested in reading a book based on a movie.

Oh, also, there was a novel based on the movie V For Vendetta. I thought this was particularly funny, considering the movie was based on a graphic novel.

I never quite understood that concept either. If a book comes out and then a movie based on it, I'll watch the movie. If a movie comes out first then a book based on it, I wouldn't read it. It is like I've read the book from watching the movie. Majority of the time the books are more detailed, while the movie gives better imagery to go with the actual story.

Bonjour all! This is my first post and I thought this a particularly interesting place to start.

I have recently become entirely enfatuated with Charles Bukowski and am currently reading 'Hollywood' by the Bukster. For those of you not familiar with the premise, it involves Buk's literary alter-ego and semi-autobiographical pal, Henry Chinaski, being asked to write the screenplay for a film. I've only just embarked upon this cheeky wee journey but I'm sure it's going to be glorious. I think it's interesting that Buk chose to write a novel about his experience of writing the screenplay to a film. Certainly more exciting and original than the Jurassic Park novelisation I read when I was but a sprightly nipper.

I think I prefer readings books first and then watch movies.
I read this book many years ago 'The Book Thief by Markus Zusak'. I loved this book. Later, when I watched the movie, I was not happy about it as compared to the joy I felt while reading the book. Hence, there were less details in movie as compared to book.

This is a new concept for me. I've never heard of books based on movies before. But if I encountered one, I doubt I'd read it. Watching the movie first kinda takes the fun of reading the book for me.

I prefer the opposite. Movies that come from books, it makes much sense that deriving a book from a movie.
