Traditional book review timing?

Post by KattPascale »

So if you select to do a traditional book review from your book selection, does that mean that you have to wait until a book is sent to you (which how long would that be?) before reviewing an ebook?

Clarification: While you are waiting for snail mail delivery (which may take a few days), you can't read an ebook to review?

Sorry to be antsy, but just wanted to be efficient.

:)

Yes. I recommend against reviewing books in traditional format if you can read them as ebooks. In fact, I think I will in some way depreciate that functionality sometime in the future.

Ok thanks that clears it up.
Although I just selected a "traditional book' to review and I googled it later and saw that the same traditional book is also available in electronic form as well!
Oh well. I haven't read a traditional book in a while. ;)

No, I personally feel that traditional books should also be encouraged. It is especially useful when you don't have an e-reader and have to resort to reading on your computer / laptop if there are no traditional books. For me, and maybe for many readers, there is nothing more preferred than holding an actual book in your hand and reading. This is evident from http://forums.onlinebookclub.org/viewto ... =1&t=14042
And if the authors are ready to ship their books in exchange for a good review, then I don't think there's any reason why it shouldn't be encouraged.
Anyway, that's just my opinion, I don't know how far it's true.

I understand what you are saying, I get it. I like traditional books too. But I was just wondering why we couldn't review ebooks while we were waiting a week for the traditional books to be mailed. Just antsy I guess.

Yeah, I guess you are right. Ebooks have got their own benefits against traditional books. But my point was just that I don't think reading traditional books should be discouraged.
