Norman Mailer?

I just took "A Ticket to the Circus" out of the library to reread. It's Norris Church's memoir of Norman Mailer. Has anyone read his books or articles? Opinions? From all I've read about him I would say gifted, opinionated, complicated, probably sexy as all get out, a man's man kind of like Sinatra...if he loved you he'd give you the world, but you did not want to see his darker side.
